Renaissance Class Of 2017

Congratulations to the Renaissance High School Class of 2017! They laughed, celebrated, hugged, posed for photos and took selfies. It was a wonderful evening to remember. Never quit growing. Never quit learning.

Renaissance High School Honored Again!

Renaissance High School teachers, students and administrators are being honored for their work with the prestigious 2016-17 Michigan Alternative Education Organization’s Outstanding Program Component Award.

They were nominated for the work they have accomplished using the Trauma Informed Care model. MAEO is honoring the school for demonstrating  “pronounced leadership in addressing the needs of alternative education students.”

They will receive the award at the Annual MAEO Awards Banquet at Crystal Mountain later this month.

Renaissance Receives Grant!

Thanks to a grant from Meemic, an insurance company founded by teachers, the students at Renaissance High School will be getting some much needed new equipment to use with their computers. Teacher Jennifer Beam wrote the grant and said the $500 award will be used to purchase new computer mice and headphones.

Robert Redman, who owns the Redman Agency, a Meemic agency, was on hand March 23 to present the grant in front of the student body to both Beam and Principal Tammy Glupker. The RHS students cheered when they learned how the money would be spent.

Bowling Champs!

Congratulations to the Renaissance High School Boys and Girls Bowling Teams! The boys took 1st Place in the state and the girls took 2nd in a recent competition in Owosso, Michigan!

Teacher Sarah Johnson took two teams of five to the state competition where they each competed separately and then played Baker Games. The same teams competed last fall in a similar tournament and took first place there as well!

Welcome To Renaissance High School!

Renaissance High School is a Plainwell Community School designed to meet the needs of students who have experienced difficulties in the areas of attendance, behavior, achievement, health, or development.

Being A Rebel The Student authors are: (front row L to R) Brooke Hogue, Christian Barrick, Ryan Kennyon; (back row L to R) Jason Moore, teacher Charlie Wynne, Kelsey Drewyor, Jacob Stratton.

Too often misunderstood or dismissed, the students at our alternative Renaissance High School have a lot of heart. They are not just classmates with teachers, they are a family. Six RHS students collaberated on the poem below to describe what it truly is like to be a Rebel.
