Julli Bennett was appointed in July 2014 and she will serve as the Board Vice President in 2017. Julli graduated from Paw Paw High School in 1991 and attended KVCC and Andrews University for graphic design. After obtaining the experience and confidence at a small prepress shop, she was motivated to start her own small business in the trade and to this day she remains active in the field. Julli has served as Battle of the Books coach, Gilkey Parents Club president for 2+ years, Hands2Hands secretary, Wellness committee member, coordinator for M.O.P.S and also briefly served as a Plainwell School bus driver. Amy will serve as Board of Education President for 2017 and has attained Level 4 – “Master Boardmember Award” – Completed Levels 1, 2 and 3; total of nine advanced (200- or 300-Level) CBA classes and minimum of 368 education credits focusing on the work of a Board of Education Trustee through the Michigan Association of School Boards. Amy graduated from Comstock High School in 1991 and attended Kalamazoo Valley Community College. She worked at Bronson Hospital from 1994-1999 and was a Program Director with the Central Florida YMCA in Orlando from 2000-2002. Amy has been a classroom volunteer for the past nine years, and has served as a school volunteer at all levels of Plainwell education (elementary, middle, and high school). She is a member of the high school’s Parent Advisory Committee and was Co-Chair of the Starr Parents’ Club from 2003-05 and again from 2010-2011. Kim will serve as a Board Trustee in 2017. Kim is a stay-at-home Mom and a substitute teacher. She is a graduate of Western Michigan University with a degree in Elementary Education. An active volunteer in the classroom and Cooper Parents’ Club, Kim also serves as a middle school mentor, co-coordinator of the Cooper mentor program, Battle of the Books coach, and Girl Scout leader. Christine will serve as Board Treasurer for 2017. Chris is a working mother of 3 with 17 years of retail experience, including 13 years of management experience. Chris graduated from Centreville High School in 1983 and attended WMU and KVCC for 1 year each. She has been employed with the TJX Company for the past 10 years, located in Wyoming, Michigan. Shannon will serve as Board Trustee for 2017. Shannon was born and raised in west Michigan, graduating from Galesburg Augusta and Western Michigan University. She and her husband Mark lived on the east side of the state after marrying where Shannon taught preschool in Oakland County. In 2008, Mark was relocated back to West Michigan. They chose to move their family to Plainwell and are proud to be members of this wonderful community. Their children, Kate and Bennett attend Gilkey Elementary. Shannon has been a substitute teacher and an active classroom volunteer. She also devotes her personal time to many Gilkey Parent Club activities and helps out with the Friends of Ransom Library. She has already started taking school board training courses through the Michigan Association of School Boards and is looking forward to continuing to serve her community.
