Revised Bond Proposal

Vote by November 5, 2024

After the May proposal did not pass...

We revised and reduced the proposal based on community input while taking into account the continuing issues in our aging facilities.

On November 5, voters in the Plainwell school district will consider a revised bond proposal to address continued facilities issues throughout the district.

The updated bond proposal would provide $39,835,000 for infrastructure improvements across the district at no tax rate increase expected over the current rate.

Why a New and Revised Proposal?

Our school facility needs persist and key infrastructure challenges continue to present themselves for the district. This has led us to evaluate how to best use our funds to meet the growing needs.

Upon review, we can address district needs with no tax rate increase. Without increasing the current millage rate, we are able to generate funds to address the issues we are facing.

What’s in the November proposal?

The bond proposal addresses the key facilities issues that persist across the district:

NO TAX RATE INCREASE!

WHAT DOES “NO TAX RATE INCREASE” MEAN?

In effect, the proposal would extend the millage rate for a few more years before decreasing as the bonds are repaid. This means that the tax rate to repay the bonds is not expected to increase beyond the current debt millage rate of 10.55 mills.
