The Young 5 students at Cooper Elementary just finished a special unit where they compared apples - size, weight, color and taste. They made patterns using red and yellow apples, graphed their favorite color of apples and used the apples to show ways to make five! To end their unit, they made applesauce! What a fun (and delicious) project for the Koalas! 🍏🐨🍎

IT’S RIVALRY GAME DAY! Join us tonight (10/6) to cheer on the Trojans at their rivalry football game against the Otsego Bulldogs. Game begins at 7 PM at Otsego HS. It is a “Black Out” game, show your support of the Trojans by wearing black (or your favorite Plainwell gear). To purchase tickets, visit the OPS website. Thanks to the student's hard work and the generous donations by many, Cooper Elementary’s Fun Run fundraiser was a great success. On Thursday, the Koalas walked, ran, played and enjoyed popsicles at their Fun Run. Thank you to all that donated to make this fundraiser an incredible success, especially the top donors (logos pictured)! Way to go, Cooper Koalas! Special recognition goes out to Lucy Morse (5th grader) whose design was selected as the winner for the 2023 Fun Run t-shirts. 🐨

Recently one of our students won the "Poems that Ate our Ears" contest through Kalamazoo's Friends of Poetry. This past weekend, Plainwell Middle School 6th grade student and Cooper Elementary alumni, Levi Corning, was able to attend a beautiful celebration at Kalamazoo Public Library where he shared his winning poem "Fox. We are incredibly proud of Levi for his amazing accomplishment - Plainwell Pride!

We are excited to announce that we will be reviving the Plainwell Education Foundation (PEF) and you are invited to join us! The PEF is a non-profit 501c3 organization founded in 1985 to assist PCS in providing excellence in education. The PEF supports all students and staff with teacher grants, student scholarships and other efforts. As a reminder, if you are interested in volunteering for this organization, please join us for an informational meeting tomorrow (Tuesday, September 26) at 6:00 PM in the PHS Media Center. The Cooper Koala’s left their mark! The Young 5, Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade students at Cooper Elementary each made a dot for International Dot Day last week! Here is the beautiful display decorating one of the hallways at Cooper. Way to go, Koalas!

On Friday, during the Varsity Football game against Sturgis, the PHS Cheer team held their Junior Cheer Night. Over 75 junior (K-8th grade) cheerleaders participated in cheering during the first quarter of the game. It was so much fun for our younger Trojans and an awesome night filled with Plainwell Pride!
