
MASB CONFERENCE: This weekend, Superintendent Montange had the opportunity to attend and present at the Michigan Association of School Boards (MASB) Conference in Traverse City with Mrs. Amy Blades, PCS Board of Education President. At the conference, they presented about Leading with Relationships: A Model for How the Board President and Superintendent Can Work Together to Lead Your District. It was an outstanding opportunity to share about PCS and the importance of putting relationships first within our district. A special thank you to Mr. Montange, Mrs. Blades and our Board of Education for supporting and representing our district so well at this annual conference!


FALL CARNIVAL: It’s Carnival day! Join the Starr Parents Association at Starr Elementary today (October 22) from 12-4 PM for their Fall Carnival to enjoy vendors, food trucks, face painting, carnival games (tickets are $.50 each), a pumpkin patch, crafts and more!
We look forward to seeing you for a fun and festive afternoon at Starr!

HOOPSTERS BASKETBALL: Join us for our upcoming Hoopsters Basketball program for 3-5th graders. This program introduces kids to the basic fundamentals of basketball and the rules of the game. The program will be held from December 4-March 5, teams will practice 1-2 times per week and play games on Saturdays (games will be played in Plainwell, Otsego and Martin). Cost is $57 per participant.

COOPER MATH: Students in Mrs. Kessler’s Kindergarten class at Cooper Elementary are learning about 10 frames in a super fun way…they are the counters! Way to go, Cooper Koalas! 🐨


COOPER MONSTER MASH: Mark your calendar to join us at Cooper Elementary for their 2022 Monster Mash - Halloween Costume Party next week. Wear your costume and enjoy trick or treating, food trucks and FUN on October 27 from 5-7 PM.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! Volunteers will be asked to:
- Assist with setting-up tables and chairs
- Dress-up in costume to hand out candy
- General assistance
- Clean-up

Join us for a fun extra-curricular reading activity where students work as a team to read and study the following seven selected books before competing in a quiz bowl type battle in February 2023:

NO SCHOOL TODAY (10/17): Plainwell Community Schools will have no school today due to a gas main being hit on the corner of South Main and Starr which has caused the intersection to be blocked and a gas outage to our buildings with no timeline on a possible all clear.
A decision on after school activities will be made by noon but we are hopeful that those will not be impacted.

FALL CHOIR CONCERT: We are just one week away from the We Will Rock You Fall Choir Concert. Join us for this free concert featuring the 7th, 8th, PHS Choirs and PHS Honors Choirs as they perform some of rocks biggest hits on Thursday, October 20 at 7:30 PM at the Plainwell Performing Arts Center. We look forward to a great show by the PCS Choir programs!


COOPER FUN RUN: We are excited to share that the Cooper Elementary Fun Run fundraiser collected over $11,000! Cooper Elementary thanks all donors, including a special thanks to Sleeman’s Service for being one of the top donors to the 2022 Fun Run! Way to go, Koalas!

COOPER FUN RUN: On Thursday, Cooper Elementary held their Fun Run fundraiser. It was a beautiful day for the students to enjoy running, walking and popsicles! Thanks to all that made this a successful event, especially Robert Keorkunian from Modern Woodmen Fraternal Financial for being one of the top donors to the 2022 Fun Run.

OPERATING MILLAGE PROPOSAL: On November 8, 2022, Plainwell Community Schools’ voters will have the opportunity to vote on an Operating Millage "Headlee override" Proposal which would allow the district to continue to collect the full 18 mills voters approved at the May 2014 election. COOPER CROCHET CLUB: Yesterday was the first day of crochet club at Cooper Elementary. A 4th grade student created this club for students wanting to learn to crochet during recess. Great creativity, Koalas!
