Congratulations to Plainwell Robotics Club's elementary school VEX IQ teams who had another successful weekend. Gilkey team "Gearheads" and Cooper team "TP Titans" joined forces and won the VEX IQ Robotics Tournament at Charlotte. The "Gearheads" placed first and the "TP Titans" placed 2nd after nine matches in the Qualifying Round. The two teams then formed the 1st place alliance and defeated the 2nd place alliance 98-97 in the Final Round. As a result of their win, the teams have received invitations to the State Elementary School VEX IQ Championship Tournament to be held at Monroe County Community College on March 11. Thirty-one middle and elementary school teams from central Michigan participated in the event, including four other PRC teams. Starr team "Robo Sharks" finished the tournament in 5th place and Gilkey team "Robot Guardians" finished eighth. Gilkey team "The Gecko Bots", and Starr team "Short Circuits" finished the Qualifying Rounds in 26th and 27th place.
PRC's Cooper team "The Rocket" had a very successful day, too. They chose to participate in the VEX IQ Tournament at Traverse City - another elementary and middle school event - where they placed 7th (of 33) after the Qualifying Round and finished 5th in the tournament's Final Round.
Congratulations to all seven team's members, coaches, and parents!

While the Plainwell students had the day off today, the PCS staff attended a special training. It's amazing to see our staff continuing their education to provide the very best for our students. Today, they were in training with the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) to learn more about how our district can best support all students. Thank you to the PCS staff for continually striving to provide the very best for Today’s Learners, Tomorrow’s Leaders!

As a reminder, there is no school on Monday, January 16. We look forward to welcoming our students back to school on Tuesday, January 17.
Have a great weekend - Go Trojans!

Wishing the PCS Students, Families, Staff and Trojan Community a wonderful holiday season filled with joy & happiness! From all of us at PCS - Merry Christmas!

Our classrooms at Cooper, Gilkey and Starr had lots of holiday fun prior to leaving for winter holiday break. From gingerbread creations, to sock exchanges, to fun and games, there were lots of smiles and laughs for our elementary students.

Prior to break, students in Mrs. Martin’s 4th grade class at Cooper Elementary visited different classrooms throughout their building to give a readers theater performance. Way to go, Koalas!

All evening activities have been canceled for today (Thursday, December 22, 2022). This includes TAC, Hoopsters, Volleyball Lifting and all other activities/practices. Stay safe and Go Trojans!

It’s official, Winter Break is here! As a reminder, our Winter Holiday Break is from Thursday, December 22-Friday, January 6. We wish our students and families a wonderful and happy holiday break. We look forward to welcoming our students back to school on Monday, January 9.

This morning Officer Farris and Mrs. Keorkunian from Cooper Elementary delivered holiday cheer to Cooper’s adopted family. Way to go, Koalas!

Throughout the month, several of our buildings have enjoyed various dress-up days. Today, the students at Cooper Elementary had Grinch day! Based on their smiles, he certainly wasn’t able to steal any holiday joy from the Koalas!

Yesterday, the Cooper Koalas had a special visit from the Kalamazoo College Women's Basketball team. Several of the teammates helped in classrooms throughout the afternoon. It was a great experience for the Cooper students to learn from these athletes. A special thank you to the Hornets for your time, what an amazing opportunity it provided our students!

It was a fun morning at Gilkey, Cooper and Starr Elementary Schools as the Middle and High School Choirs performed for the students. The performance included a number of classic holiday songs, as well as a special appearance from "Olaf". It was a fun morning for all the students involved, the smiles were priceless!
