“PROJECT UKRAINE”: Two very compassionate Cooper students, Rylin and Parker, recently expressed the desire to do something special for the children in Ukraine. The students created a plan to collect new stuffed animals to be shipped to Ukraine and surrounding countries. Through the generosity of the international organization, Global Empowerment Mission, they were able to secure shipping and distribution of the donated stuffed animals. Once their plan was in place, they presented it to PCS Superintendent, Mr. Montange and their plan became reality. Throughout this week, the Cooper students have generously donated over 150 stuffed animals to “Project Ukraine”. These donations will bring comfort and hope to the children whose lives have been so drastically impacted. Way to go Rylin, Parker and the Cooper Koalas - your generosity is sure to bring joy to many! Plainwell Pride! If you are interested in donating, “Project Ukraine” will be collecting new stuffed animals through Friday, April 29 at Cooper Elementary.

COOPER DUDES: We would like to recognize an incredible group of dads (Mr. Preuninger, Mr. Larsen, Mr. Torres and Mr. Hall) at Cooper Elementary, called the Cooper Dudes! This group visits the elementary each week to eat lunch and play outside at recess…they have a blast, but are also great role models for the Koala students! At recess they practice good sportsmanship and cooperation. Thank you “dudes” for being a part of the Cooper Village and taking time out from your very busy schedules to support Today’s Learners & Tomorrow’s Leaders! Plainwell Pride!

HONORING MR. ROUSH: To honor beloved fifth grade Starr Elementary teacher, Mr. Tim Roush, Maddie Jeffreys from PHS painted a beautiful mural in the hallway at Starr. What an amazing representation of what Mr. Roush loved so dearly - rocket science! Save the date to join us at a memorial event to honor Mr. Roush on Friday, May 20. The event will begin with a rocket launch (weather dependent - rain date 6/3) at 2:30 PM at the PHS track. A memorial service will follow at 4:00 PM at the Performing Arts Center (will run as scheduled regardless of weather).

EARTH DAY COOKIES & CONVERSATION: Our Food Service Director, Mr. Ritsema, had a fun food service promotion for Earth Day today. During school lunch at our three elementary buildings (Starr, Gilkey, Cooper), Mr. Ritsema joined the students for cookies and conversation to bring awareness about Earth Day. He talked about how students can help the environment by recycling and reusing at school. It was a great experience for all!
