Congratulations to Cooper Elementary student, Levi Corning, who won the Kalamazoo poetry contest - Poems that Ate our Ears! His poem (Fox) was selected as a winner out of grades 4-6 from area schools. His poem, along with other winning poems, will be posted on Kalamazoo city buses. We are incredibly proud of Levi for this outstanding accomplishment - Plainwell Pride!

The Plainwell Middle School Choir did an amazing job this evening at their Spring Concert at the Performing Arts Center. They have worked so hard throughout the school year and provided an amazing performance!

Earlier this week, the students at Cooper Elementary had a special visitor. Mr. Bill, the manager from FanFare, came to Cooper where he donated free comic books to their school. Each student was able to pick a comic book to take home. It was a fun opportunity for the Koalas. Special thanks to PHS Grad, Mr. Bill, for his generous donation to Cooper Elementary! On Saturday, several students from Cooper, Gilkey and Starr Elementary Schools participated in Girls on the Run. Over the last 10 weeks they have been training and on Saturday, they all completed the 5K run. Way to go Koalas, Geckos and Rock Starrs!

Recently, the 5th grade students from Cooper, Gilkey and Starr Elementary Schools visited the Middle School. The students had lunch at PMS, got to meet with current 6th graders to ask questions to help prepare them for Middle School and toured the building. It was a great experience for the 5th graders - thank you to the 6th grade students for taking the time to share about your experience in Middle School.

We had our final Kindergarten and Young 5 Round-up last night at Cooper Elementary where students and families enjoyed meeting the staff, completing special activities and learning about our district. It was a great evening welcoming our future Trojans!

The Cooper Koalas had lots of fun celebrating their staff this week. The Cooper Parents Club showed appreciation to staff by starting the week out by chalking the sidewalk on Monday. They also have provided breakfast, lunches, charcuterie, as well as a soda and dessert bar. Snacks and drinks were stocked in the lounge daily and special treats were left at each teachers door each day to help "lift them up". It was a fantastic way to celebrate our amazing staff members!

It was another great evening of Kindergarten and Young 5 fun at Starr Elementary’s Round-up last night! Students enjoyed exploring the school to learn all about becoming a Rock Starr!
