The Gilkey Elementary Kindergarten and Young 5 students had fun with 100th day celebrations. They enjoyed "100" pancakes for breakfast and celebrated by sharing their 100th day collections. Our youngest Geckos had lots of fun celebrating this week!
As a reminder, our Mid-Winter Break is from Friday, February 17-Monday, February 20. We wish our students and families a wonderful break and look forward to welcoming the PCS students back to school on Tuesday, February 21.

The Middle School Honors Choir, 6th grade Band and Directors Mrs. Perrin and Ms. Quillian visited each of our elementary buildings to talk about next year’s music options for our incoming 6th grade students. It was a great experience for our Koalas, Geckos and Rock Starrs!
We are less than a week away from the 2023 Daughter Dance! Registration is still open for this special event on Saturday, February 11 from 6-8 pm at Plainwell Middle School for K-6th grade students. We are excited to share that our 2023/24 Kindergarten and Young 5 enrollment is NOW OPEN! We can't wait to welcome our newest Trojans to PCS this fall for the 2023/24 school year! We have two exceptional learning options available for our incoming Trojans:
- Kindergarten - Available for students turning 5 years old prior to September 1, 2023
- Young 5 Program - Available for students turning 5 years old between September 1, 2023-December 1, 2023

Gilkey Elementary held their January Student and Staff of the Month ceremony this morning. Each month, Gilkey teachers select one student and a staff member who they felt did an outstanding job throughout the month. This month, the focus was on collaboration. Way to go, Geckos!
January is School Board Recognition month and before the month ends, we would like to take a moment to thank our Board of Education for their dedication to our school district. They work tirelessly to provide the best for our staff, students and families; including their hard work with the ongoing bond projects. Due to snow and winter weather conditions, Plainwell Community Schools is closed tomorrow (Friday, January 27). An update regarding the SAFE program will be shared with families that utilize the program in the morning. We wish our students, staff and families a safe snow day!

Due to a private event at the PCS Pool, there is no Open Family Swim on Friday, January 27. We look forward to welcoming our families back for Open Swim on Friday, February 3.
Girls grades 1-8th grade are invited to join us for the 2023 Girls Basketball Skills Camp from March 11-25. The camp, which is hosted by Coach Stephenson, Staff & PHS players, will be held on Saturday mornings with the following schedule:
- 1st-3rd Grade: 9:00-10:15 AM at PHS
- 4th-6th Grade: 10:30-11:45 AM at PHS
- 7th-8th Grade: 12:00-1:30 PM at PHS
The cost is $30 per athlete with a family rate of $15 for each additional child.
