Congratulations to Plainwell Robotics Club's elementary school VEX IQ teams who had another successful weekend. Gilkey team "Gearheads" and Cooper team "TP Titans" joined forces and won the VEX IQ Robotics Tournament at Charlotte. The "Gearheads" placed first and the "TP Titans" placed 2nd after nine matches in the Qualifying Round. The two teams then formed the 1st place alliance and defeated the 2nd place alliance 98-97 in the Final Round. As a result of their win, the teams have received invitations to the State Elementary School VEX IQ Championship Tournament to be held at Monroe County Community College on March 11. Thirty-one middle and elementary school teams from central Michigan participated in the event, including four other PRC teams. Starr team "Robo Sharks" finished the tournament in 5th place and Gilkey team "Robot Guardians" finished eighth. Gilkey team "The Gecko Bots", and Starr team "Short Circuits" finished the Qualifying Rounds in 26th and 27th place. PRC's Cooper team "The Rocket" had a very successful day, too. They chose to participate in the VEX IQ Tournament at Traverse City - another elementary and middle school event - where they placed 7th (of 33) after the Qualifying Round and finished 5th in the tournament's Final Round. Congratulations to all seven team's members, coaches, and parents!

Today, they were in training with the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) to learn more about how our district can best support all students. Thank you to the PCS staff for continually striving to provide the very best for Today’s Learners, Tomorrow’s Leaders!

The Plainwell Robotics Club had a very busy and very successful tournament schedule over the weekend. Six middle school teams competed in a 38 team event at Grandville High School, five high school teams competed in a 39 team event at Napoleon High School and one elementary school team competed in an 18 team event at Napoleon High School. The Middle School Trial and Error team was presented with the Design Award and received an invitation to the State Middle School Championship Tournament to be held in Monroe, MI in March. The Design Award is presented to a team that has demonstrated a strong combination of ingenuity and innovation in designing and documenting their robot. Team members are Erica Klein, Mai Nguyen, Liam Preuninger and Lucas Stoll. They are coached by Marie Tsuji. The High School So Many Problems team received the Amaze Award, which is presented to a team that has built an amazing, high-scoring robot that clearly demonstrates overall quality. This is the second consecutive tournament that this team has earned this award. Team members are Sam Bacon, Owen Ferris and Danielle Klein. The Elementary Rocket team had a very successful tournament at Napoleon. Ending in 9th place after the qualifying matches is impressive and finishing tied for 3rd place in the finals is even more so! We are very proud of our robotics students at every level!
