Wolverine Leadership Initiative: Sign Up!

Wolverine Leadership Initiative is a dynamic, life-changing program aimed at helping young adults become society-shifting leaders. The initiative features one-week of intensive instruction, coaching, and development of critical skills all effective leaders have – no matter what field they pursue. Through realistic and relevant experience-based learning, students will cultivate four skills that will propel their future potential: Grit, Fellowship, Poise, and Foresight.
This workshop will be held July 29 through August 2, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., meet at PHS daily. Cost is $175 and it is open to all area high school students (grades 9-12).

PCS Recognizes Volunteers

Twelve Plainwell Community School volunteers and one local business were honored at a special reception held before the Monday, June 3 Board Meeting. Those recognized received keepsake jars.

PHS English Teacher Chosen for ASNE Fellowship

Plainwell High School English/Journalism Teacher and Trojan Torch Advisor, Marilyn Hess has been accepted as a fellow at the 2013 American Society of News Editor’s (ASNE) Reynolds High School Journalism Institute at Kent State University in July. The High School Journalism Institute’s instruction is based on the core tenets of journalism and the skills needed to produce top-notch student publications, with additional focus of online publishing using multi-media tools. This is the 13th year for the institute sponsored by the American Society of News Editors and funded by the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation. The application process is highly competitive and it is an honor to be selected.
