PHS is hosting a panel discussion for any current PHS female student who has been active in sports. PCS’ Substance Abuse Prevention Plan
Lately there has been a great deal of discussion in our schools and community about substance abuse prevention. At the December 5th Board of Education meeting, Plainwell High School Administration shared their Substance Abuse Prevention Plan. This two-page document outlines specific events that have taken place from Fall 2009 until present as well as ongoing prevention and next steps. That document can be found here.
PHS Students Chosen for State Honors Choir
Eight Plainwell High School Concert Choir students have been selected for the Michigan School Vocal Music Association’s State Honors Choir. The students that have been named are (L to R): Riley Anson, Ian Schwallier, Mitch Monroe, Kyle Veldt, Blair Kelly, Alex Dunham, Greyson Steele and Sean Griffin. PHS Choir Director, Keith Cahoon, states that normally two or three students are chosen for State but to have eight students selected is truly an honor! This is also the fourth time that PHS Senior, Blair Kelly, has been chosen to perform with the Honors Choir. The State Honors Choir will perform at Grand Rapids’ DeVos Hall in January

Outstanding People for Education
It’s the time of year to begin thinking about the “Outstanding People for Education” Award! Do you know someone who has made a difference to a student or students in your district? The purpose of this award to to honor and recognize people in education who are excelling in their field and/or making an impact in the quality of public education in Allegan County.
