It was the Geckos turn to visit Plainwell Public Safety! The Kindergarten and Young 5 students from Gilkey recently visited the station where they enjoyed learning all about fire safety and what the local fire department heroes do in and for our community. THANK YOU to Plainwell Public Safety for providing such a fantastic visit and a wonderful learning experience for these students! 🚒

Plainwell Middle School students recently celebrated together at their first all-school party of the year. The after-school event featured a variety of activities, including crafts, open gym, dancing and snacks. Special thanks goes out to the Middle School Parent Club/parent volunteers for organizing and hosting such a fantastic event for our 6th-8th grade students – the event was a hit!

Security best practices recommend glazed windows and secure door sidelites, two elements that the bond would fund. Don't forget to vote by November 5!
More information available at plainwellschools.org/page/2024-bond.

Mrs. Amaezechi's 4th grade class at Starr Elementary recently participated in Write Out: Poetry for the Planet. They took a field trip to Ransom District Library and learned how to write haikus using sensory language. They collected leaves along the way and turned them into a beautiful art project. Mrs. Amaezechi would like to thank the parent volunteers, Joe Gross and the staff of Ransom Library for helping make this adventure possible for the Rock Starrs!

Cooper Elementary is experiencing a power outage. This outage includes all computers and phones. There is water and emergency lights on in the building. Parents are welcome to pick-up their students early. Bus routes will run as normally scheduled.

Earlier this week, PHS Holocaust Literature students visited the Zekelman Holocaust Center in Farmington Hills. Through a guided docent tour tailored to their coursework, students deepened their understanding of the Holocaust. Students heard a second-generation survivor share his father's powerful story. In an emotional presentation, he shared his father's enduring message: cherish life and live in the moment. The day was filled with many amazing learning opportunities for the Trojans!

PHS Woodshop students have been working on a special project for Plainwell Public Safety (PPS). With generous lumber donations from Home Depot, Mr. Beachler, Mr. Hayward and the PHS students collaborated to build a self-extrication wall for PPS. This unique wall will serve as a training aid for firefighters, helping them practice breaching walls and learning how to maneuver with their gear through wall studs, all while navigating potential obstacles such as electrical and water lines during a fire evacuation. Yesterday, the PPS team visited PHS to pick-up the new wall and personally express their gratitude to the students and teachers for their valuable contribution to this important training resource. We 💙 partnering with our community to help Today's Learners and Tomorrow's Leaders - PLAINWELL PRIDE!

The Plainwell Middle (7th & 8th grade) and High School Choirs did an amazing job at their Fall Constellations Concert last week. It was a wonderful evening, filled with outstanding music to kick-off the 2024/25 season at the Performing Arts Center.

Buildings throughout the district have partnered with NexTrex to recycle 1,000 lbs of plastic. Please bring plastic that is clean, dry and free of food residue to bins at the front vestibule of the High School, Middle School, Cooper, Gilkey & Starr to help support the recycling challenge. For each 1,000 lbs. that are collected, buildings will earn a new NexTrex bench! GO TROJANS!
