Congratulations to PHS Swim Coach, Andrea Murphy, who was voted by her peers as the 2024/25 Boys MISCA Zone 6 Coach of the Year! This is truly a well-deserved honor, as Coach Murphy is an exceptional leader in and out of the pool! Thank you for the positive example you set for our student-athletes, Coach – PLAINWELL PRIDE!

Due to limited staffing, Noon Lap Swim and Indoor Walking are closed today (3/27) and tomorrow (3/28). We look forward to seeing our community back at the Field House for Lap Swim and Walking on Monday, March 31. PLEASE NOTE: Open Swim will still be available tomorrow (3/28) as originally scheduled.

The spring Taekwondo session is in full swing, with students focusing on the five tenets: courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control and indomitable spirit. Recently, one of the students in the spring class, Rylee, successfully passed her white belt test, earning the opportunity to move on to the yellow belt. She excelled in both her fundamentals and her white belt form. Alongside Rylee, the other students in the class are gaining skills in self-defense and martial arts, cultivating respect for themselves and others, as well as establishing lifelong, healthy exercise habits.

Congratulations to PHS Junior, Sam Harper, on being named Zone 6 Swimmer of the Year! Sam had an outstanding season, shattering three school records in the 200 IM, 200 free and his own record in the 500 free. At the State competition, he achieved 2nd place in the 200 free and claimed the title of State Champion in the 500 free. Congratulations on a remarkable season and for earning this recognition, Sam - TROJAN PRIDE!

Due to weather conditions, there have been some changes to the PHS athletic schedules for this evening. Please make note that the following sporting events have been postponed:
- The Varsity Softball game scheduled for today against Galesburg-Augusta (GA) is postponed to May 15 at GA.
- The JV and Varsity Soccer games scheduled for today against Kalamazoo Central are postponed until April 18 at home.

The Lifelong Learner group had a special visitor today - Channel 3 Meteorologist Jeff Porter. In honor of Severe Weather Awareness Month, he shared his expert knowledge on weather forecasting and provided essential safety tips for navigating Michigan’s unpredictable spring weather. 🌤️
Special thanks to Mr. Porter for sharing your expertise with our Lifelong Learners group, it was an enriching experience for everyone involved!

Join us this summer for our Youthball program for PCS students, ages 5-8. With the focus of the program on recreation and to learn the fundamentals of the game, our Summer Youthball program is just the beginning for many of our Trojan baseball and softball players.
THREE PROGRAMS AVAILABLE!
- T-ball (5 & 6 year olds)
- Girls Coach Pitch (7 & 8 year olds)
- Boys Coach Pitch (7 & 8 year olds)
Please note - coach pitch may be combined into a co-ed team if we don't have the numbers to support both a girls and boys teams. Practices begin the week of May 27, with games being held in Plainwell and Otsego from June 10-July 10. Specific dates and times TBD based on registrations and coaches availability.

The Rock Starrs had some special visitors for reading month when NJHS students from the Middle School stopped by Starr Elementary and were guest readers - Trojans leading Trojans!

This past weekend two elementary school robotics teams competed in the 2025 VEX IQ Tournament of Champions in Grandville, Michigan. Highlights from the weekend include:
Girls with Gears (Bridget, Lyla and Riley) from Starr Elementary won the Inspire Award. This award is giving to a team that exhibits passion and a positive attitude at the event.
Koala Bots (Pearl, Grayson and Carter) from Cooper Elementary finished in 19th place after qualifying rounds and 12th place in skills overall. After some bad luck in the elimination rounds, they finished the day in 12th place.

Last week, students from the fourth grade classes at Gilkey Elementary had the opportunity to take a field trip to Lansing. It provided an amazing learning experience for the students as they visited the Michigan Historical Center and Capitol Building. What a great experience for our fourth grade Geckos!

The Trojans explore career opportunities! Last week, students at Plainwell Middle School had the special opportunity to listen to local leaders during two career days. Various community members spoke to classes across the middle school, sharing insights about their professions. This was a valuable and enriching experience for the 6th-8th graders as they begin to consider their future career paths.

🍀 Happy St. Patrick’s Day! 🍀 A sneaky little leprechaun snuck into Mrs. Mudget’s Young Fives Classroom today at Cooper Elementary. He left chocolate, gold coins and Magic Lucky Charms that turned the milk green. The students had so much fun!
