It was a very successful day for the KoalaBots from Cooper Elementary School, which represented the Plainwell Robotics Club at the VEX IQ State Championship at Monroe County Community College on Saturday, March 2. They double-qualified for the 58-team event by earning a Teamwork 2nd Place Award and an Excellence Award, the highest award in VEX Robotics, during the competition season. The team placed 22nd after 8 qualifying matches, and placed 9th in the final round. Together with their alliance partner, they also achieved the 5th highest match score for the day out of a total of 232 matches; and they placed 19th in the Skills competition. Congratulations to the KoalaBots team members: Carter (4th grade), Parker (5th grade), Lucille Morse (5th grade) and their coach John Morse on a great day of competition! PLAINWELL PRIDE!

The PHS Holocaust class took a trip to Zekelman Holocaust Center in Farmington Hills last week. While there, students toured the facility and heard from the daughter of a Holocaust survivor who spoke about her life as a child of a Holocaust survivor and told about her father’s life. The PHS students asked very thoughtful questions throughout their time there and received many compliments.

REMINDER! We are only a few days away from the Plainwell Education Foundation Euchre Night Fundraiser on Saturday, March 2 at 7:00 PM. The event will be held at Taqueria San Francisco Bar & Grill where attendees will enjoy a buffet dinner, euchre tournament, cash bar and raffle prizes. Cost is $30 per person (limited to 50 guests). You do not need to bring a partner for Euchre night, you will be randomly paired up with someone and will alternate partners throughout the event.
