
APPLES, APPLES, APPLES: The students in Ms. Francomb’s Young Fives classroom at Starr Elementary have been learning all about apples. Last week, they made applesauce. Not only was it a fun lesson in cooking, it also helped the students work on skills in math, science, language, social emotional development and physical development (fine motor skills)! What a fun and delicious lesson!


KAYAKING TRIP: On Friday, the Plainwell Middle School Michigan Exploration Class went on a kayaking trip. What a great way to explore our great state - it was a beautiful day and a great experience for these students!

2022 HOMECOMING FOOTBALL GAME: What an awesome night at the 2022 PHS Homecoming Football Game! Highlights include: an outstanding performance of the national anthem by the PHS choir, a hard played game by the PHS varsity football team that went into overtime, an exceptional halftime show by the marching band, an awesome cheerleading squad to cheer on the Trojans, a stadium full of school spirit, the announcement of the 2022 Homecoming Court and the crowning of the 2022 Homecoming King and Queen. A special congratulations to Isabelle DeLaet and Dane Jorgensen on becoming the 2022 Homecoming King and Queen!
The Trojans came up a little short in overtime with a 28-21 loss to Niles, but it was still a great night with lots of Trojan pride! Way to go, Trojans!

STARR SCIENCE: Today students in Mrs. Amaezechi’s 4th grade class at Starr Elementary learned how an eyeball works by making a cornea lens. What an awesome lesson - science is so cool!




2022 HOMECOMING PARADE: Join us today (9/30) to support PHS and cheer on the Trojans at the 2022 Homecoming Parade beginning at 1:20 PM. Students, staff, PCS families and the community are welcome to join us for the parade to celebrate Homecoming Spirit Week and to cheer on the Trojans prior to their football game against Niles at 7 PM. GO TROJANS!


COOPER MATH LESSON: The Cooper Koalas joined in the Homecoming Spirit week fun with pajama day. While in their comfy pjs, students in Mrs. Adams 3rd grade class used large white boards with groups of students to figure out math word problems. The activity allowed everyone to have a voice and participate. Great job, Koalas!


PHS POWDERPUFF: Homecoming Spirit Week continues at PCS! Last night, PHS held their annual Powderpuff Game where the Seniors won 20-18 over the Juniors! It was a great game played by both teams - Go Trojans!


MIDDLE SCHOOL RECEIVES SPECIAL AWARDS: Congratulations to Plainwell Middle School on receiving two awards from the State of Michigan! The Middle School earned an MTSS Data Utilization Award for using data to enhance interventions and supports for all students. The Middle School also received a Bronze Award for Implementation and Impact of the building’s Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) program. Even better than winning awards, these programs are impacting students every day. Great job Plainwell Middle School staff! Trojan Pride!


PHS ART CLUB: The PHS Art Club members created Oreo relief sculptures using a toothpick and an Oreo split in half. Sculpting frosting at this scale was challenging, fun and tasty!


PHS GIRLS GOLF: The Plainwell Girls Golf team secured 2nd place in the Wolverine Conference today at the Pineview Golf Course in Three Rivers. Renae Jaeger is the Wolverine Conference Champion and 1st Team All Conference. Ashley McKenney earned 1st Team All Conference and Anessa Jaeger was named Honorable Mention. Today was a strong showing from fellow teammates Avery, Emma and Izzy. Trojan Pride!


BATTLE OF THE BOOKS: Do you have a 3rd-5th grade student who loves to read? The 2023 Battle of the Books sign-up is coming soon! Join us for a fun extra-curricular reading activity where students work as a team to read and study seven selected books before competing in a quiz bowl type battle in February 2023. A week from today on Wednesday, October 5, the 2023 Battle of the Book titles will be announced!

GILKEY SPIRIT WEEK: Our elementary buildings have joined in Homecoming Spirit Week! Yesterday, the Gilkey Geckos had superhero day. It has been so much fun to see all the school spirit throughout PCS this week! Go Trojans!


MIDDLE SCHOOL BAND: The 7th grade band students from Plainwell Middle School had an awesome field trip to TreeRunner Park in Grand Rapids today! It was a great day of team building and adventure for these band students!


MEET THE CANDIDATES: As a reminder, the Meet the Candidates event is TONIGHT (Tuesday, September 27) at 7 PM. Join us to meet the 2022 Board of Education Election Candidates. In-person attendees will have the opportunity to meet and submit questions to learn about the candidates to prepare for voting. Your vote matters, as the Plainwell Board of Education has four openings that will be on the ballot on November 8, 2022.
