Earlier this week, the 5th grade students at Gilkey Elementary went on an adventure where they spent time panning for gold in the Nature Lab to finish up their unit on the Gold Rush. Students traveled back in time to 1849 to travel on the Oregon Trail to pan for gold, led by Prospector Jack.
It was a great experience, as students earned and collected gold through various activities in the Nature Lab. In the end, they could use their gold to purchase from the General Store. What a great learning experience for the Geckos!
