Last week, Gilkey Elementary held their October Student and Staff of the Month ceremony. Each month, Gilkey teachers select one student and a staff member who they felt did an outstanding job throughout the month. In October, the staff and students who were selected did an awesome job being responsible. Way to go, Geckos!

Field trip fun! Students in the Young 5 classes from Starr and Gilkey Elementary Schools had a great trip to Gull Meadow Farms. Mrs. Bunkers and Mrs. Youngs students enjoyed exploring the farm by picking apples, learning about apples and enjoyed cider and donuts, despite the rain and cold! 🍎🍏

We are excited to welcome back the Mother/Son Hockey Night as the Kalamazoo Wings take on the Allen Americans in the 40th Annual Green Ice Game on Saturday, March 16 at 7:00 PM. Mothers and sons will enjoy the game, a $5 concession voucher, a FREE knit hat and a voucher for a FREE game of bowling at Airway Fun Center! Calling all PCS 3rd-5th graders! Have you heard about Battle of the Books? Battle of the Books is a book-based quiz competition for 3rd-5th grade students at Plainwell and surrounding elementary schools. Students read six incredible stories together and then compete in a quiz bowl type competition in February 2024. Interested in participating this year? Join us for an Informational Meeting to learn more about Battle of the Books on Tuesday, October 24 from 6:30-7:30 PM at Gilkey Elementary’s Media Center. A Zoom link will also be available for those that are unable to attend in person.
