
COOPER MONSTER MASH: Mark your calendar to join us at Cooper Elementary for their 2022 Monster Mash - Halloween Costume Party next week. Wear your costume and enjoy trick or treating, food trucks and FUN on October 27 from 5-7 PM.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! Volunteers will be asked to:
- Assist with setting-up tables and chairs
- Dress-up in costume to hand out candy
- General assistance
- Clean-up

STARR CARNIVAL: Join Starr Elementary this Saturday, October 22 from 12-4 PM for the Starr Fall Carnival to enjoy vendors, food trucks, face painting, carnival games (tickets are $.50 each), a pumpkin patch, crafts and more!

Volunteers are still needed, if anyone is willing to help run a game or assist at the Carnival, please email the Starr Carnival planning committee at Jennifer.wright@plainwellschools.org. Student volunteers can earn community service hours and parents can earn free tickets for their kids.

BATTLE OF THE BOOKS: Do you have a 3rd-5th grade student who loves to read? Registration is now open to sign-up for the 2023 Battle of the Books program! Join us for a fun extra-curricular reading activity where students work as a team to read and study the following seven selected books before competing in a quiz bowl type battle in February 2023:

NO SCHOOL TODAY (10/17): Plainwell Community Schools will have no school today due to a gas main being hit on the corner of South Main and Starr which has caused the intersection to be blocked and a gas outage to our buildings with no timeline on a possible all clear.
A decision on after school activities will be made by noon but we are hopeful that those will not be impacted.

FALL CHOIR CONCERT: We are just one week away from the We Will Rock You Fall Choir Concert. Join us for this free concert featuring the 7th, 8th, PHS Choirs and PHS Honors Choirs as they perform some of rocks biggest hits on Thursday, October 20 at 7:30 PM at the Plainwell Performing Arts Center. We look forward to a great show by the PCS Choir programs!


GILKEY WALK-A-THON: The Gilkey Geckos completed their Walk-a-Thon fundraiser yesterday and raised over $18,500! It was a perfect day for their Rock-the-Block parade throughout Plainwell led by the Plainwell Department of Public Safety and Principal Bilodeau dressed up as the Gecko. A special congratulations to Mrs. Funk's class who had the most donations raising $1,696. What a great day for the Geckos! Thank you to all that supported this fundraiser for Gilkey Elementary!

OPERATING MILLAGE PROPOSAL: On November 8, 2022, Plainwell Community Schools’ voters will have the opportunity to vote on an Operating Millage "Headlee override" Proposal which would allow the district to continue to collect the full 18 mills voters approved at the May 2014 election. NATIONAL CUSTODIAN DAY: It’s National Custodian Day! We are so grateful for our custodial team, who work hard each day to provide a safe and healthy learning environment for our students and staff! 2022 HOMECOMING FOOTBALL GAME: What an awesome night at the 2022 PHS Homecoming Football Game! Highlights include: an outstanding performance of the national anthem by the PHS choir, a hard played game by the PHS varsity football team that went into overtime, an exceptional halftime show by the marching band, an awesome cheerleading squad to cheer on the Trojans, a stadium full of school spirit, the announcement of the 2022 Homecoming Court and the crowning of the 2022 Homecoming King and Queen. A special congratulations to Isabelle DeLaet and Dane Jorgensen on becoming the 2022 Homecoming King and Queen!
The Trojans came up a little short in overtime with a 28-21 loss to Niles, but it was still a great night with lots of Trojan pride! Way to go, Trojans!

2022 HOMECOMING PARADE: Join us today (9/30) to support PHS and cheer on the Trojans at the 2022 Homecoming Parade beginning at 1:20 PM. Students, staff, PCS families and the community are welcome to join us for the parade to celebrate Homecoming Spirit Week and to cheer on the Trojans prior to their football game against Niles at 7 PM.
