The Starr Elementary second grade students in Mrs. VanGoeye's and Mrs. Mielke's classes had a special visitor this week, as former Starr translator, Ms. Veen, stopped by their classrooms. During her visit, Ms. Veen shared about her current experience as a translator in Honduras and presented each student with a letter from one of her students. In return, the Starr students are working on writing their new pen pals a letter this week, so Ms. Veen can deliver them when she returns to Honduras after break. It has been an amazing experience for these second graders to learn about another country and culture.

Who doesn't love a great holiday tradition?! It was great fun at Gilkey, Cooper and Starr Elementary Schools as the Middle and High School Choirs performed for the students at their annual holiday caroling tour throughout the district. This annual caroling event includes a number of holiday classic songs, as well as a few new favorites...including a special appearance from "Olaf". It is always a favorite for all the students and staff involved, the smiles were priceless!

Registration is open for the 2024 Daughter Dance on Saturday, February 10. Join us for an evening of fun for PCS K-6th grade daughters. Event includes formal photo, DJ, photo booth, refreshments, raffle & a flower. To register, please scan the QR code.

Congratulations to our November Starr Elementary Staff and Students of the Month! Each month, Starr teachers select students and staff who they felt did an outstanding job throughout the month. In November, those who were selected did an awesome job being thankful and thoughtful. Way to go, Rock Starrs!

The Kickers Indoor Soccer Program wrapped up their 2023 season. They had over 100 players that ranged from Kindergarten to 5th grade. Special thanks to Dave Nobel, Ryan Beauregard, Doug Beauregard and all of the other volunteers that helped with another successful indoor season for the Kickers! ⚽️🥅

Students in Ms. Cole’s 4th grade Crew at Starr Elementary are having lots of fun learning about shield and cone volcanos during their Mystery (Earth) Science project. Way to go, Rock Starrs! ⭐️

Throughout the district, the elementary students are having lots of fun with various dress up days! From Frosty’s Fun Day to Tinsel Tuesday to Bright Lights Day, our students are spreading joy and being festive leading up to the holidays.

In Mrs. Amaezechi’s 4th grade class at Starr Elementary, they learned about how volcanoes are made. In class, they created their own volcanoes using flour and water, where they came up with various conclusions to study different types of volcanoes. What a fun and creative way for these 4th graders to explore science.

Two Elementary Robotics teams competed in the 3rd annual Allendale VEX IQ Tournament last weekend. Starr Team "Megabyte" (Kaden and Bradley) started off slowly but ended the tournament tied for 2nd place. Cooper Team "3D Builders" (Aiden, Briana and Nolan) won the Create Award, which is given to a team whose robot design incorporates a creative engineering solution to the design challenges of the season’s game.
