Registration is now open for the PCS Hoopsters Basketball program for PCS 3-5th grade students. Hoopsters Basketball is the official developmental league for the Plainwell Trojans Basketball Program. Hoopsters is a 3 v 3 league that is organized as a way to develop the skills necessary for youth basketball players to compete at the next level while keeping fun at the center of every player’s experience. Calling all PCS 3rd-5th graders! Have you heard about Battle of the Books? Battle of the Books is a book-based quiz competition for 3rd-5th grade students at Plainwell and surrounding elementary schools. Students read six incredible stories together and then compete in a quiz bowl type competition in February 2024.
Interested in participating this year? Join us for an Informational Meeting to learn more about Battle of the Books on Tuesday, October 24 from 6:30-7:30 PM at Gilkey Elementary’s Media Center. A Zoom link will also be available for those that are unable to attend in person.

The Kindergarten students from Starr Elementary took a trip to Plainwell Public Safety where they learned about fire safety. During the visit, students received a tour of a fire truck, sprayed a fire hose and met with firefighters to learn all about the importance of fire safety. A very special THANK YOU to Plainwell Public Safety for a great visit and awesome learning experience at the fire station!

IT’S RIVALRY GAME DAY! Join us tonight (10/6) to cheer on the Trojans at their rivalry football game against the Otsego Bulldogs. Game begins at 7 PM at Otsego HS. It is a “Black Out” game, show your support of the Trojans by wearing black (or your favorite Plainwell gear).

The Rock Starrs 💙 swim class! Mrs. Heise’s 4th grade class from Starr Elementary had swimming last week. Their time was full of swim lessons, lots of fun and they ended the week with free choice in the pool.

We are excited to announce that we will be reviving the Plainwell Education Foundation (PEF) and you are invited to join us! The PEF is a non-profit 501c3 organization founded in 1985 to assist PCS in providing excellence in education. The PEF supports all students and staff with teacher grants, student scholarships and other efforts.

Students in Ms. Cole and Mrs. Amaezechi 4th grade classes at Starr Elementary had the opportunity to go to Swisslane Farms today. They were able to take a wagon ride and tour the whole farm where they learned about cows. They even had a chance to meet and feed the calves…which was a class favorite! What a great field trip filled with fun learning opportunities for the Rock Starrs!

On Friday, during the Varsity Football game against Sturgis, the PHS Cheer team held their Junior Cheer Night. Over 75 junior (K-8th grade) cheerleaders participated in cheering during the first quarter of the game. It was so much fun for our younger Trojans and an awesome night filled with Plainwell Pride!
Students in Mrs. Stoll’s 2nd grade class at Starr Elementary have been working on their math skills. They made rekenreks in class and played Addition Clash! We love to see our Rock Starr students being creative while learning!
