OH WHAT FUN! The students at Starr Elementary had a special visitor return to their building last week as Lucky the Elf joined them at school again this year! Lucky's shenanigans brought smiles, giggles and lots of joy as students found her throughout the building in the lunchroom, music class, at the pool (where she even pushed Mrs. Skinner in) and jingling her way through the hallways. After several attempts by Starr’s office staff, they were finally able to catch Lucky just in time for the Starr students to leave for their Winter Break! Oh what fun it was for all, the smiles and giggles were priceless!
HOLIDAY MUSIC: It was a fun morning at Gilkey, Cooper and Starr Elementary Schools as the Middle and High School Choirs performed for the students. The performance included a number of classic holiday songs, as well as a few special appearances. It was a fun morning for all the students and the smiles were priceless! Great job to the Choir program for providing this festive and fun program for our K-5 students!

ROCK STARR ASSEMBLY: Our third and fourth grade classes at Starr Elementary had an exciting morning while attending an assembly featuring the Moxie Girls. They performed amazing music for the students while sharing the importance of music education in public schools. What a great experience for these Rock Starr students! A special thank you to the Moxie Girls for joining us at PCS to share your musical talents and inspirational words!

PLAINWELL MYWAY WRESTLING CLUB: The Plainwell Myway Wrestling Club is excited to begin their new season and they are hoping to see their wrestling family grow! The program is open to K-8 grade students. Their next practice will be held for all wrestlers on Monday, November 29 at 6:00 pm in the Plainwell High School AP (wrestling) room.
Their practice schedule is Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:00-8:00 pm at the High School AP (wrestling) room. All wrestlers will report at 6 pm. Young/novice wrestlers will be released at 7:15 pm, with older/advanced wrestling practice until 8:00 pm.
If you are interested in participating, join us to learn about the Myway wrestling program or to sign-up on Monday, November 29 starting at 6:00 pm.
Program Cost:
Season Sign-up: $60
Middle School Wrestler: $40

ROCK STARR FIELD TRIP: Our Starr Elementary kindergarten classes had a fun adventure at Stokes Homestead Farm Market. They enjoyed time playing on the playground, going on a hayride to pick out pumpkins, explored the farm & nature trails and took a ride on the cow train - all while learning and having fun with their classmates. What a great day it was at Stokes Farm for the kindergarten Rock Starrs!

MONSTER MASH: Last week, Cooper Elementary held their Monster Mash event. It was an awesome outdoor evening for a costume party as our families went on a scavenger hunt for candy along the nature trail, played games, enjoyed sweets & treats and had lots of Halloween fun! Thank you to all that organized, planned and joined in for the fun at the 2021 Monster Mash!

PHS FALL CHORAL CONCERT: It’s an exciting day for our choir programs, as they make their final preparations before the PHS Fall Choral Concert! Join us this evening (October 21) at 7 PM for the Plainwell High School Fall Choral Concert at the Performing Arts Center. The show will feature music from "The Wonderful World of Disney", as well as a special performance from the 7th and 8th grade choir programs.
LITTLE FREE ROBOT LIBRARY: Have you seen the Little Robots that are stationed outside of each of the elementary buildings? These Robots are home to the Little Free Libraries (LFL) which are stocked full of FREE books that are available to our early childhood/elementary (baby-5th grade) students and community members. Families are welcome to take a book without a donation or "take a book and leave a book", either way we encourage you to pick-up a FREE book for your child! The LFL Robots were purchased from the United Way to help promote literacy in our community, so please stop by one of our elementary buildings (Cooper, Gilkey or Starr) to pick-up a FREE book today!
CONTINUING THEIR EDUCATION: The PCS teachers are always working hard to continue to learn the latest in education. Here are some of our elementary teachers who attended a Math Recovery Training recently. LEARNING ABOUT MEASURING AT STARR: Students in Mrs. Miller’s second grade class at Starr Elementary spent some time out of the classroom today learning about measurements. The students enjoyed the lesson while taking measurements in and out of the building. Keep up the great work, Rock Starrs!
