
PATRIOT'S PEN COMPETITION: Congratulations to Plainwell Middle and High School students - Hiro Nguyen (MS), Lillian Locker (MS), Audra Huberty (MS - not pictured), Dennis Redmond (HS) and Westin Ramsey (HS) who received awards from the Plainwell VFW Post 9377 for essays that they submitted for the Patriot's Pen competition. Hiro's first place essay will be entered in the district VFW Patriot's Pen competition. Congratulations to these students - Trojan pride!



HOLIDAY MUSIC: It was a fun morning at Gilkey, Cooper and Starr Elementary Schools as the Middle and High School Choirs performed for the students. The performance included a number of classic holiday songs, as well as a few special appearances. It was a fun morning for all the students and the smiles were priceless! Great job to the Choir program for providing this festive and fun program for our K-5 students!

GILKEY ELEMENTARY ROBOTICS: Join us in congratulating our four Gilkey Robotics Teams who competed in their first VEX IQ Robotics Tournament at Jenison Junior High School this weekend. They are the first elementary school teams ever to compete in a VEX IQ Robotics Tournament representing the Plainwell Robotics Club. Way to go, Geckos!
A special congratulations goes to Team Gilkey Girls, Lillian, Erica and Landon, who were presented with the Amaze Award, which is "presented to a team that has built the most consistently high scoring and competitive robot." Their team is coached by Linnea and Corey Lucas. Congratulations to Team Gilkey Girls!
Next up, the four teams are scheduled to compete at Grandville in January.


HOLIDAY GIVEBACK: The PHS Girls Basketball Team had a very successful Holiday Giveback. Thanks to the generous donations from our amazing community, the team raised $3,700 to support local families this holiday season! Today the team came together to shop, prep and wrap the family’s wishlist items. Next up, they will make their special deliveries to provide an amazing Christmas and spread holiday joy to local families. Thank you to all that donated to make this an extra special Holiday Giveback for our Girl’s Basketball program! Plainwell Pride!


MI EXPLORATION CLASS: There are so many learning opportunities at PCS. Recently, students in Mr. Herbert’s Michigan Exploration Class at Plainwell Middle School have been working on refurbishing a piece of furniture. It has been a great experience and fun learning opportunity for these students.





8TH GRADE VARIETY SHOW: Plainwell Middle School finished their holiday performances last night at the 8th Grade Band and Choir Variety Show. It was a fun and festive evening, with wonderful musical performances! Thank you to the band and choir students and instructors for an outstanding concert!





6TH & 7TH GRADE CHOIR: The Plainwell Middle School 6th and 7th grade choir students performed a beautiful holiday concert earlier this week. Our students and instructors have worked very hard to prepare for this show and the end result was an outstanding holiday performance! Way to go 6th and 7th grade choir students, Trojan pride!
Next up is our 8th Grade Band & Choir Variety Show this evening (12/9) at 7 PM in the Performing Arts Center. Limited attendance of two people per student is encouraged. The concert will be live streamed for those that are unable to attend (link will be shared).





TROJAN THANKS: A very special thank you to Otsego United Methodist Church who delivered apple dumplings to our Middle School staff today. We are so thankful for their generosity and support of our educators and staff!


6TH & 7TH GRADE BAND: From rehearsals to the live performances, the Plainwell Middle School 6th and 7th grade band students performed a beautiful holiday concert last week. The students and instructors have worked very hard during the first trimester and it showed in their outstanding performances to kick-off the holiday season. ROCK STARR ASSEMBLY: Our third and fourth grade classes at Starr Elementary had an exciting morning while attending an assembly featuring the Moxie Girls. They performed amazing music for the students while sharing the importance of music education in public schools. What a great experience for these Rock Starr students! A special thank you to the Moxie Girls for joining us at PCS to share your musical talents and inspirational words!

HOLIDAY PARADE: The amazing High School Marching Band participated in Plainwell’s Holiday Parade this afternoon! They did a great job of spreading some holiday cheer during the parade and for Santa’s arrival! What a festive and fun afternoon in our community - Plainwell Pride!





LIGHT UP THE NIGHT: The PHS Honors Choir did an outstanding job performing at the City of Plainwell’s Light Up the Night event this evening! Great job to these Trojans for bringing some beautiful music to this fun and festive evening in our amazing community. Plainwell pride!




CONGRATULATIONS KAYLEE WRIGHT: A very special congratulations to PHS Senior, Kaylee Wright, on receiving her appointment at the United States Coast Guard Academy! She is pictured here (fourth from the left) with the other appointees in the USCGA Class of 2026! Way to go, Kaylee - Trojan pride!


PHS FIELD TRIP: Yesterday, the PHS Holocaust Literature classes went to the Holocaust Memorial Museum in Farmington Hills. While there, they had a tour specifically designed by the education specialists at the museum to further students understanding of the curriculum of their class including the history, stories of the survivors and the implications of being a bystander. The students also had the opportunity to meet a survivor, Irene Miller, during the visit. Ms. Miller shared her story and answered questions from the students. The students also had the opportunity to purchase her signed book that detailed her experiences during the Holocaust. What an amazing learning experience for these High School students!





CONGRATULATIONS RILEY NUGENT: We are excited to share that PHS Senior, Riley Nugent, was highlighted as the MHSAA Performance of the Week. We are so proud of Riley for her dedication, hard work and her many accomplishments while competing on the PHS Swim & Dive team! PLAINWELL MYWAY WRESTLING CLUB: The Plainwell Myway Wrestling Club is excited to begin their new season and they are hoping to see their wrestling family grow! The program is open to K-8 grade students. Their next practice will be held for all wrestlers on Monday, November 29 at 6:00 pm in the Plainwell High School AP (wrestling) room.
Their practice schedule is Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:00-8:00 pm at the High School AP (wrestling) room. All wrestlers will report at 6 pm. Young/novice wrestlers will be released at 7:15 pm, with older/advanced wrestling practice until 8:00 pm.
If you are interested in participating, join us to learn about the Myway wrestling program or to sign-up on Monday, November 29 starting at 6:00 pm.

PHS SWIM & DIVE: Congratulations to the State team that finished 10th overall at the Division 3 State Meet held at Calvin University today! Riley Nugent is the State Champion in the 200 free and secured her 4th straight 500 free title! Taylor Seibert finished 4th in 1 meter diving earning her All-State recognition. Sydney Harper placed 15th in the 500 free. The relay team of Isabelle Delaet, Elizabeth French, Sydney Harper and Riley Nugent placed 12th in the 200 free relay and 13th in the 400 free relay. What a great day for Trojan Swim and Dive - Plainwell Pride!
