ALL-STATE HONORS: Congratulations to Mackenzie Hill for earning Academic All-State honors from the Michigan Track & Cross Country Coaches Association for Cross Country this fall. She has earned the honor in all three years she was eligible for Academic All-State honors. Way to go Mackenzie - Trojan pride!
LEARNING ABOUT THE WEATHER: Students in Mrs. Schipper third grade class at Cooper Elementary participated in a WoodTV8 Weather Experience today! The class followed along with Ellen Bacca as she taught and showed them about different types of Michigan weather like tornadoes, wind, lightning and more! What an exciting learning opportunity for these third grade Koalas! A special thank you to WoodTV8 and Ellen Bacca for this great experience for our students!

PHS EMT LAB: Earlier today, the Plainwell High School students in Marilyn Hess’ class practiced airways in the EMT lab. PHS offers so many outstanding educational opportunities, including this great hands on and life saving learning experience, for their students.
PCS ROBOTICS: Our seven Middle School and four High School robotics teams had a successful event on Saturday, November 13. Three of our teams earned major judged awards:
- The MS team W.H.A.M. was presented with the Design Award
- MS team ReeeeWired received the Create Award
- HS team If It Works team earned the Amaze Award.
These achievements are particularly impressive considering 22 of our 44 students and 10 of our 13 coaches were participating in their first (ever) VEX Robotics Tournament!
Our teams' robots performed well, too. MS teams Geared Up and W.H.A.M. made it to the quarter-final round and MS team ReeeeWired and their alliance partner lost in the semi-finals to the eventual tournament winners.
Congratulations to everyone who participated and a special thank you to all the parents and friends who attended the event to support our robotics program. Trojan pride!
MIDDLE SCHOOL ALL-SCHOOL PARTY: Plainwell Middle School held their first all-school party of the year today. Students had a fun afternoon with swimming, crafts, activities, open gym, dancing and snacks. A special thanks to the Parents Group for putting together an awesome event for our Middle School students - the event was a hit!
GECKOS SAY THANK YOU: Students in Ms. DeMoore’s kindergarten class at Gilkey Elementary took time today to recognize Veteran’s Day by making some special creations to say thank you to all our military veterans who have served in the armed forces! These Geckos say THANK YOU for your service!
GIRLS SWIM & DIVE: The Girls Swim & Dive team finished runner up to Allegan at the Conference meet this past weekend. Here are some highlights from the meet:
- 4 divers qualified for the Regional meet this Thursday at Hamilton: Taylor Seibert, Izzi Keckler, Jadyn Erdody and Sarah Russell.
- The 200 free relay qualified for State: Isabelle Delaet, Elizabeth French, Sydney Harper and Riley Nugent.
- Riley Nugent also won the 200 IM, 500 Free and our 400 free relay won the event.
- All-Conference swimmers/divers include: Audrey Todd, Eliza Harris, Sophie Cox, Madison Seibert, Sydney Harper, Riley Nugent, Kate Zabaldo, Taylor Seibert, Jadyn Erdody, Izzi Keckler and Ella Way.

PHS MARCHING BAND: Congratulations to the Trojan Marching Band on their excellent State Finals performance at Ford Field today! It was the band's first return to State Finals in 2 decades and the first ever performance at Ford Field.
The band competed against 11 other bands in their division from all around the state of Michigan and found themselves in 4th place overall after an exciting show! Thanks to all who traveled to Detroit early in the morning to show their support for Plainwell's band students. The community support for the Trojan Band was remarkable and the energy in the stadium was outstanding! Way to go Trojan Marching Band - Plainwell Pride!
CROSS COUNTRY: Congratulations to Mackenzie Hill for finishing in 19th place at the MHSAA Division 2 State Cross Country Meet to earn All-State honors for the second time in her career. Mackenzie earned All-State as a freshman, then after suffering injuries that hampered her season for two years, worked hard to regain her form and earn that status once again! Way to go Mackenzie - Trojan pride!

CROSS COUNTRY STATE FINALS: Good luck to Mackenzie Hill and Grace Pettit from the Plainwell High School Cross Country team as they head to the State Finals for Cross Country tomorrow! From all of us at PCS, best of luck to Mackenzie and Grace! Trojan pride!

ROCK STARR FIELD TRIP: Our Starr Elementary kindergarten classes had a fun adventure at Stokes Homestead Farm Market. They enjoyed time playing on the playground, going on a hayride to pick out pumpkins, explored the farm & nature trails and took a ride on the cow train - all while learning and having fun with their classmates. What a great day it was at Stokes Farm for the kindergarten Rock Starrs!
VIRTUAL & HYBRID PUBLIC SAFETY TRIP: Last week, the students from our Virtual & Hybrid program had a special field trip to Plainwell's Department of Public Safety. During their visit, they had a tour of the facility/firetrucks and learned the importance of fire safety from local firefighters. It was a great day and an awesome learning opportunity for our Virtual & Hybrid students. A very special THANK YOU to the Department of Public Safety for your presentation to our students. Plainwell Pride!
MIDDLE SCHOOL HONORS BAND: Congratulations to the amazing Middle School 8th grade band students that represented Plainwell at the District Honors Band held at Plainwell’s Performing Arts Center. It was a great day with beautiful music from the honors band students. 🎼
PHS MARCHING BAND: Congratulations to the Trojan Marching Band for their 2nd place finish at the West Shore Invitational on Saturday! Their finish has given the Trojan Band the 4th best overall average score in the state in their division. Next up, they have been invited to compete in the State Finals on Saturday against the top 11 bands in their division from throughout the entire state of Michigan! The Trojan Marching Band will perform for the first time ever at Ford Field in Detroit at 9:18 am on Saturday, November 6. Gates open at 7am. Tickets are $25 at the gate, cash only. GILKEY WALK-A-THON: The Gilkey Geckos held a successful Walk-a-Thon fundraiser where they raised $17,481.42. It was a fun week for the elementary, which ended with a Rock-the-Block parade throughout Plainwell led by the Plainwell Department of Public Safety, the PHS Marching Band and Principal Bilodeau dressed up as a dinosaur. What a great day for the Geckos! Thank you to all that supported this fundraiser for Gilkey Elementary!
