On Monday, 16 students from the Plainwell High School Multicultural Club had a "day on" instead of a "day off" in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. During the day, the group participated in the City of Kalamazoo Community-Wide Day of Service to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. King. Â
Their service project for the day was to volunteer at Grace Covenant Church, assisting in cleaning, organizing and yard work. They also participated in a march and attended a wreath laying ceremony at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Park along with the community and various dignitaries.
During the day, the students had the opportunity to meet the Mayor and City Manager of Kalamazoo, Dr. Edward Montgomery, President of Western Michigan University, as well as other prominent members of the community. PHS was well recognized for their actions in honoring Dr. King's life work of equality and justice for all people. Way to go, Trojans!Â
