MIDDLE SCHOOL LINKS: Mrs. Callaghan's LINKS class at Plainwell Middle School had a great time getting to know each other through team building activities. LINKS is a peer to peer program that pairs up students to increase their academic performance and social interactions in the classroom. Way to go, Trojans!


TROJAN MARCHING BAND: Congratulations to the Trojan Marching Band for their outstanding start to the season at the Rockford Invitational yesterday! The TMB took 1st place in Flight 4 sweeping all caption awards! Their next competition is in 3 weeks at the Belding Invitational on October 8. Trojan Pride!


PHS FOOTBALL: Congratulations to the PHS Varsity Football team on their victory over Gull Lake High School (35-14) at their first home football game of the season! Trojan Pride!


MIDDLE SCHOOL SOCCER: The Plainwell Middle School Soccer team had their first game of the season against Kalamazoo Christian where they started off the season with a win 7-2. Way to go, Trojans!

MEET THE CANDIDATES: Join us for our upcoming Meet the Candidates event on Tuesday, September 27 at 7 PM to meet the 2022 Board of Education Election Candidates. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet and submit questions to learn about the candidates to prepare for voting on November 8, 2022. Your vote matters, as the Plainwell Board of Education has four openings that will be on the ballot on November 8.

MIDDLE SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY: The Middle School Cross Country team had their first home meet of the season today against Otsego. Way to go, Trojans!


PHS MARCHING BAND: Earlier this week, the PHS Marching Band participated in the Allegan County Fair Parade. These students did an awesome job while representing PCS at the parade! Trojan Pride!


PHS VARSITY FOOTBALL: Our first home Varsity Football game against Gull Lake High School is tomorrow (Friday, September 16) at Streidl Field with a 7:00 PM kick-off. Gates will open at 5:45 PM, but please plan to arrive early to avoid the long lines. We are strongly encouraging our Trojan fans to purchase your tickets and passes online before coming to the game by visiting phstrojans.com. Please note that this event is CASHLESS. We will be accepting credit and debit card payments at the FRONT GATE ONLY (off of Starr Road), but please anticipate a wait while processing payments.
We look forward to a positive and fun experience while cheering on the Trojans! As you select a seat for the game, please keep in mind that the student and band sections are seated on the northwest side of the bleachers.

BOARD OF EDUCATION: Plainwell Community Schools is excited to welcome our new Board of Education member Rex Hall. Mr. Hall was appointed at the September 13, 2022 meeting to serve on the Board of Education through December 31, 2022. MICHIGAN EXPLORATION CLASS: Students in Mr. Herbert’s Michigan Exploration class at Plainwell Middle School have been working on a Michigan Marketing project. Each student selected an idea to research and today the 8th grade class shared their presentations on how they would rebrand Michigan. The students did a great job, way to go Trojans!

WELCOME BREAKFAST: Plainwell High School celebrated their new students with a new student breakfast this morning! We are exited to welcome these students to PHS - GO TROJANS!


GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY: Congratulations to the Girls Cross Country team for their victory at the Delton-Kellogg Invitational last night. Winning medals for a top-25 performance were Josie Longcore, Grace Pettit, Emma Taggett, Hannah Erlandson, Claire Vos and Raya Mergen-Henry. Also kudos to Claire Vos and Anna Hall for running their season best times in last night’s heat! Way to go, Trojans!


MIDDLE SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL: The Middle School 7th and 8th grade Volleyball teams had their home opening games last night against Otsego. We are proud of these student-athletes for their hard work in and out of the classroom - GO TROJANS!


SHARP SHOOTERS BASKETBALL: There is still time to register for the upcoming Sharp Shooters Basketball League for 5-8th grade girls. Games are held on Saturdays, beginning October 22 and the season will end with a tournament on December 10 & 11 for all participants who wish to participate. Team organization and practices (days of the week, location, times) will be announced this month. The cost of $125 and covers gym rental, officials, jerseys and league insurance. Registration is currently open on RevTrak by visiting plainwell.revtrak.net/Community-Ed-Rec/ (closes on 9/16). Please note, this is not a league for AAU or Area All Star Teams.


GILKEY GECKOS: The students in Ms. Pierce’s fourth grade class at Gilkey Elementary spent time this week learning about building rules and expectations. The students visited the Gilkey Expectation Stations to practice both what to do and what not to do. They also created their social contract together. It was a great first week at Gilkey!
