Only 329 lbs. away from our first new bench! Buildings throughout the district have partnered with NexTrex to recycle 1,000 lbs of plastic. Please bring plastic grocery bags that are clean, dry and free of food residue to bins at the front vestibule of the High School, Middle School, Plainwell Corners, PCS Administration Building, Renaissance High School, Cooper, Gilkey & Starr to help support the recycling challenge. For each 1,000 lbs. that are collected, buildings will earn a new NexTrex bench! GO TROJANS!
As we begin to utilize the new Field House for practices and competitions, please review these important parking and drop-off/pick-up procedures. Your cooperation in following these guidelines is greatly appreciated, ensuring that everyone can arrive at events safely and receive the necessary assistance.
- The small front parking lot is designated for handicapped parking only! Please keep this area available for those who require it.
- Athletes MUST use the student parking lot (senior lot) located in front of the High School during and after the school day. Parking between Starr Elementary and the High School is not permitted, as this area experiences heavy bus traffic during school hours. After school, this lot becomes crowded with spectators for Middle School athletic events. PLEASE park in the front student parking lot!
- Parents/Guardians may drop off athletes in the front or along the north side of the building. Parents/Guardians, PLEASE DO NOT park in the front parking lot while waiting for your athlete. If you need to wait, please use the lot between the cafeteria and Starr Elementary (old pool parking lot) or the student parking lot across from the Field House.
- During games, you may drop off any spectators needing assistance in the small front parking lot, but then please park in the front student parking lot.

We are excited to welcome back the Mother and Son Hockey Night as the Kalamazoo Wings take on the Toledo Walleye in the Annual Green Ice Game on Saturday, March 15 at 7:00 PM. Mothers and sons will enjoy the game, a $5 concession voucher, a free knit hat, a green foam LED stick and a voucher for a free game of bowling at Airway Fun Center! There was so much holiday fun throughout the district last week. From special dress up days, to celebrations, to lots of fun and games, our students were excited to show their holiday spirit before Winter Holiday Break. We ❤️ all the joy and smiles that the holiday season brings to our students!

💙📣 Cheer Fest 2024 📣💙 PCS Cheer had strong performances from all their teams at the Cheer Fest this past weekend. The Plainwell Fourth and Fifth grade Exhibition team, as well as the Middle School teams had strong performances during the competition. The Plainwell JV and Varsity teams both took first place! Fantastic job Trojan Cheer!
As a reminder, our Winter Holiday Break is from December 23-January 3. We wish the Trojan community a happy holiday break. We look forward to welcoming our students back to school on Monday, January 6. From all of us at PCS - Happy Holidays!
Swim Practice Reminders! There is no 10 & under and 11-12 TAC practice tonight (Thursday, December 19). The Middle School Swim & Dive team has practice at their regular scheduled times (6:00-7:00 PM). Please check your email and the website for practice changes and Winter Break schedules.

Gilkey Elementary held their November/December Student and Staff of the Month ceremony. Each month, Gilkey teachers select students and staff members who they felt did an outstanding job throughout the month and the recipients are celebrated at a special award ceremony. In November/December, those who were selected did an awesome job being dependable. Way to go, Geckos!
‼️ Field House Progress Update! ‼️ Many interior projects have been successfully completed and we are SO CLOSE to welcoming the Trojan community to the new pool and gymnasium!

As the facility receives its final touches, we eagerly anticipate watching the Trojans compete in the new Field House in early 2025! Once we receive final approval, our teams will start practicing in the new space, and we aim to host the first athletic event by mid-January. Holiday traditions are so much fun! The atmosphere was filled with joy at Gilkey, Cooper and Starr Elementary Schools as the Middle and High School Choirs performed for students during their annual holiday caroling tour across the district. This cherished event features a mix of beloved holiday classics along with some new favorites. It remains a highlight for all the students and staff involved, with smiles that are truly priceless!
The Gilkey Elementary 1st and 2nd grade students performed at their “In My Snowman Era” musical this week. The students did an outstanding job performing at this festive concert. Thank you to our students and Gilkey’s Music Teacher (Mr. Oostdyk) for a wonderful evening at the Plainwell Performing Arts Center!

Due to winter weather and continued difficult travel conditions, all afternoon and evening activities are canceled today (Thursday, December 12). This includes all events, games, concerts and practices district-wide. Stay safe and have a great day, Trojans!
Due to winter weather and difficult travel conditions, Plainwell Community Schools will be closed tomorrow (Thursday, December 12). This closure includes the SAFE and ECEC programs. We wish our students, staff and families a safe snow day!
Registration is open for our upcoming Love and Logic Parenting Class! The class is available to any PCS family (present or future) on Saturday, February 15 from 8:00 AM-12:00 PM at the Plainwell Performing Arts Center. Cost is $10 (per workbook). Registration closes on January 31, register today by visiting plainwellschools.org/page/youth-programs. Please note that childcare is not provided during the event.
We are excited to share that registration for the 2025 Daughter Dance is open! Join us on Saturday, February 8 for an evening of fun for PCS K-6th grade daughters. Event will be held at Plainwell MIddle School from 6:00-8:00 PM (doors open at 5:30 PM for pictures only) and includes a formal digital photo, DJ, selfie station, refreshments, raffle and a flower. Cost is $30 per couple ($10 each additional daughter).
