The Gilkey students and staff had so much fun at their annual Halloween Costume Parade. The weather cooperated and allowed the Geckos to have a great time celebrating together this afternoon. We are excited to share that registration is open for our upcoming PCS Cheer Holiday Mini Camp. Grades K-8 are welcome to join the PHS competitive cheer teams for a fun holiday mini camp filled with cheer stunts, mini routines, games and crafts! Camp will be held on Saturday, December 7 from 12:00-3:00 PM in the PHS Gym or AP Room. Cost is $35 per athlete. The Kindergarten and Young 5 students from Gilkey recently visited the station where they enjoyed learning all about fire safety and what the local fire department heroes do in and for our community. Buildings throughout the district have partnered with NexTrex to recycle 1,000 lbs of plastic. Please bring plastic that is clean, dry and free of food residue to bins at the front vestibule of the High School, Middle School, Cooper, Gilkey & Starr to help support the recycling challenge. For each 1,000 lbs. that are collected, buildings will earn a new NexTrex bench! GO TROJANS!
On Saturday, the 4th and 5th grade exhibition cheer team held their first competition at Plainwell and took 📣 FIRST PLACE 📣. A total of 18 teams participated at PHS, creating an incredible atmosphere filled with Plainwell Pride! Thank you to the parents and fans who came out to support the Trojan cheerleaders! 💙
It was an outstanding season for Rocket Football at PCS. We had a total of 115 Rocket and 83 Flag football players. As a program, they finished the season with a 15-18-3 record. Throughout the season, athletes experienced significant learning and growth, with many celebrating milestones such as their first caught pass, first touchdown or first successful tackle. This season was a wonderful opportunity for our youngest Trojan football players to grow their love for the sport. We would like to extend our thanks to all the volunteer coaches for their time and dedication to growing Plainwell athletics. Congratulations to all our Rocket Football players and coaches for an incredible season - PLAINWELL PRIDE!
Looking ahead, the 6th grade Rocket Football players will conclude their season with an exciting game against Otsego at Waldo Stadium this weekend. GO TROJANS!
The Field House progress continues. In the past week, various interior and exterior projects have been finished, such as installing the Trojan on the building's exterior and completing the staining of the gymnasium floor. The Trojans will be competing in the new Field House soon and we owe it all to the Plainwell community for supporting the 2019 bond proposal!
Registration is still open for our upcoming Youth Kickers Soccer program for K-5th graders. The goal of the Kickers program is to experience the sport, understand the rules and have fun! To celebrate the success of their recent Rock-the-Block fundraiser, Gilkey Elementary held an all-school celebration assembly. Throughout the assembly, the Geckos were acknowledged for their remarkable achievement in raising over $32,000!! 👏🏼 Top earners and classes received prizes, awards and trophies for their efforts. To conclude the festivities, students had the chance to "Pasta the Principal." Mr. Gregory enthusiastically participated, creating an unforgettable afternoon for everyone at Gilkey Elementary.

We are excited to share that registration is open for our upcoming Hoopsters Basketball program for 3rd-5th graders. Hoopsters Basketball is the official developmental league for the Plainwell Trojans Girls and Boys Basketball Programs. Hoopsters is a 3 on 3 format, which is organized as a way to develop the skills necessary for youth basketball players to compete at the next level while keeping fun at the center of every player’s experience. Program will run from December 9-March 1 (practice and game days, times & locations TBD). Cost is $60 per athlete.

We are excited to share that we will be hosting the first ever Family Hockey Night at Wings Event Center on Saturday, November 30 at 7:00 PM. Join us as the Kalamazoo Wings take on the Toledo Walleye at their Lavender Ice Game. Families will enjoy the game, a $5 concession voucher, free knit hat and a voucher for a free game of bowling at Airway Fun Center. Tickets are available for $17/adults, $14/kids (12 and under). PLEASE NOTE: Children's pricing ($14) will show up once you are on the screen to select your seat. Transportation is not available and parking is $5 per car at the event. Interested in tickets?
