🏈 POWDERPUFF FOOTBALL - 7:30 PM TONIGHT 🏈 The Homecoming Week fun continues, as the Juniors and Seniors get ready to face-off in their annual Powderpuff Football game tonight (10/7) 🕢 at 7:30 PM. 🕢 To build anticipation for the game, the two classes met in the hallways at PHS this morning, bringing extra fun and excitement to Homecoming week. This week has been filled with 💙 TROJAN PRIDE! 💙
Students in Mr. Rouse’s auto tech class have been disassembling a car. Through this hands-on experience, they have gained knowledge about the different components of the vehicle and have carefully set aside several parts to construct trainer cars. These trainer cars will be utilized to teach various maintenance functions later this school year.
With the car now completely disassembled, students are gearing up for the P-Town Beat-Down tonight! Following the Powder Puff game which begins at 🕢 7:30 PM 🕢, students will make their way to the Homecoming Bonfire where there will be a chance to assist the Class of 2028 in fundraising by taking a few swings at the car! PHS students are invited to come out, have some fun, and help with the P-Town Beat-Down, all for a good cause!
📣 NEXT STOP…STATE FINALS! 📣 The Varsity Girls Golf team punched their ticket to the D2 State Finals today! The team finished four shots behind the winner of today’s regional competition held at Bedford Valley, ending with a strong second place finish. Next stop, the team will compete at the STATE FINALS at Forest Akers West. Congratulations and best of luck, Trojans - PLAINWELL PRIDE!

🎶 Congratulations to the Trojan Marching Band! 🎶 Yesterday, the TMB earned a 1st place finish and swept all 3 caption awards at the Sparta Competition. This was the TMB's first competition after being pushed into a more challenging and competitive division for 2026 and they came through with a stellar performance! 👏👏
The next competition will be in Rockford on Saturday, October 17.
The Plainwell Girls Cross Country team competed at the Bulldog Classic in Otsego this morning. Seeded 10th going in, the Trojan ladies ran several season and career best times to finish 7th in the D2 race. 🏆 SCHOOL RECORD 🏆 Freshman Nya Hoffman was the race champion, running a Michigan Division 2 leading time of 17:29.8. With that time, Nya shattered the Plainwell XC school record of 17:55, set in 2017 by Makenna Veen. 🏅🏅 Also winning a medal, with a career best 17:56, finishing in 4th place, was junior Mai Nguyen. Mai’s time ranks as the fourth best in Division 2 for the season. It also moves Mai back into the #3 spot on the all-time PXC list! 👏👏 Along with Hoffman and Nguyen, season/all-time best times were run by a number of PXC girls. Molly Bruggink, Fiona Ryan, Brooke Carpenter, and Samantha Corbin all ran season best times; and Leigha Weldon, Samantha Zuziak, Norah Lawrence, Annie Wilkinson, and Lyla Curry all ran all-time personal bests. Way to go, Trojans - PLAINWELL PRIDE!
Each year, the PHS School Counselors hold individual meetings with every student on their caseloads. These “Minute Meetings” are designed to welcome our freshman students and provide an essential check-in for sophomores, juniors, and seniors. These sessions lay the groundwork for lasting student-counselor relationships that continue throughout the school year and during their time at PHS. We are grateful for our counselors and the personalized care and support they extend to all of our High School Trojans! 📚

What an incredible week it has been for the Plainwell Girls Golf team! 🏆 Earlier this week, they achieved a remarkable milestone by setting a conference record for the lowest Conference Tournament Team Score, finishing with an impressive 346!
In addition, four outstanding players made it onto the All-Conference Team: Avery, Sam, Emma, and Ayla. Notably, Ayla earned the Outstanding Golfer award and, if the record book holds true, she may have also surpassed the previous conference record of 37.42 for the lowest season average with a 37.4.
Next up, the team will compete at Regionals at Bedford Valley! Congratulations and good luck, Trojans - PLAINWELL PRIDE! ⛳️

🎉 Last night, our JV Volleyball team had a fantastic time at the WMU vs. CMU volleyball game! It was a night filled with school spirit, laughter, and lots of fun - what an awesome team bonding experience for the Trojans! 🏐
On Saturday, 27 students from Plainwell Marching Band volunteered to participate in Western Michigan University’s annual Band Day with the Bronco Marching Band (BMB)! In total, over 300 high school band members joined the BMB for a morning rehearsal, marched to the stadium, played in the stands during the game, performed a song at halftime, and participated in the post-game show. The PHS students had an amazing experience and are excited to bring back new ideas for their upcoming home games!
SHUTOUT AGAINST #2 EDWARDSBURG! ⚽️💙 What a battle! Congratulations to our Varsity Soccer team on a hard-fought 0-0 draw against #2-ranked Edwardsburg last night! The Trojans battled for all 80 minutes, recording a shutout against one of the state’s top teams while remaining undefeated in Wolverine Conference play. The result brings the Varsity record to 5-4-4 overall and 3-0-1 in conference play, with Sturgis, Niles, and Otsego remaining on the schedule. Our JV team also fought hard but came up just short, falling 3-5 to Edwardsburg. The JV Trojans continue a strong season and are now 7-4-1. Outstanding effort from both teams! Shoutout to the PHS Varsity Girls Golf team who won the Paw Paw Invitational held at Heritage Glen. Ayla Jaeger was the individual winner with a 76. Three other Plainwell individuals received medals: Emma Rayman, Avery Powell, and Addi Lyke. GO TROJANS!

⭐ Next stop...the Wharton Center to perform with a Broadway Star! ⭐ Congratulations to PHS Senior, Avry Asbeury, who was selected via an audition by a panel of musical theater experts to join the critically acclaimed Broadway star Sutton Foster during her Wharton Center performance in East Lansing on Saturday, October 3 at 7:30 PM.
We are so proud of Avry and excited for him to have the opportunity to perform alongside Sutton Foster for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Friends, family, and community members are invited to support Avry and all of the local high school musical students as they sing and dance on the Cobb Great Hall stage on October 3.

Last night, the Plainwell Cross Country team honored two groups at their only home meet of the season against Vicksburg and Niles.
In honor of their 50th season of running meets at their home course, affectionately known as Honeysett Farms, PXC wished to honor Sadie Honeysett, owner of the private property she has allowed the team to run on since 1976. Sadie and her son, Greg, along with her late husband, Ivan, have been tremendous supporters of the PXC program for decades. The course, often called the most difficult XC course in lower Michigan, has seen some changes throughout the years, but has always traversed through the backyard of the Honeysett family so they could watch.
In addition to the Honeysetts, PXC also honored their senior/exchange runners. Four year seniors; Brooke Carpenter, William Justice, Parker Stull, Benjamin White, and Michael Whitney; along with exchange student Giulia Nicolini, were celebrated before the race.
The boys team split their races, falling to state ranked Vicksburg, but pulling out a great win over Niles. Freshman Sean Hoffman led the Trojan boys.
The girls team was able to win both races in convincing fashion, led by race winner Nya Hoffman, and supported by strong performances from Mai Nguyen, Molly Bruggink, Fiona Ryan, Lillian Szatkowski, and Lyla Curry.
Way to go Trojans!
Plainwell’s Girls Golf Team is continuing to have a great season. They placed 1st in their last three conference jamborees, most recently winning at the M-89 Challenge. Five players achieved impressive scores in the 40s, including Ayla Jaeger, Emma Rayman, Raygan Truitt, Sam LaBonte, and Addi Lyke. All five players ranked in the top 10 among a competitive field of 52 participants. GO TROJANS!
🏐 1,000th Career Dig! 🏐 Congratulations to Jordyn Erdody for reaching an impressive milestone of 1,000 career digs in volleyball! She achieved this at the Grand Haven Invite in late August, and her team celebrated this accomplishment at home last week. As a four-year varsity player, Jordyn brings incredible energy to the court, inspiring everyone around her to elevate their game.
Trojan Volleyball is off to a great start this season - the program had a sweep over Three Rivers last week. With this win, the Varsity team is now 1-1 in the Wolverine Conference - GO TROJANS!
