Starr Elementary is proudly a Unified Champion School! The Unified Schools program, part of the Special Olympics, brings students together to play, lead and learn together. This year, the Rock Starr students have been collaborating with their Unified Champion peers on a basketball team. The goal isn't about winning games - it’s about making sure everyone has a friend, feeling proud of who they are and making their school a place where everyone belongs. 🏀 On Friday, they came together for a student vs. staff basketball game. The stands were filled with their teachers and classmates to cheer on the team, encouraging all involved to "choose to include." It was a wonderful experience for the Rock Starrs - in Unified, everyone wins!

This program will build on the previous UMatter initiative at the High School, with the goal of fostering mental health discussions among the Trojans. Earlier this week, the group held its first meeting, where students brainstormed fantastic ideas to raise awareness about mental health, educate their peers and provide support to one another.
