Plainwell Community Schools recently held its first Career and Technical Education (CTE) advisory committee meeting with industry leaders. Joining the discussion were representatives from local industries, Joe Westra from Buist Electric, Shannon Fritz from Goodwill Industries, Michelle Krcatovich from West Michigan Works!, and Marty Adams from Kalamazoo Valley Community College. Together, they initiated the rollout of the new Computer Programming Academy, marking Plainwell's first in-house CTE program.
Students enrolled in computer programming at the middle or high school level can access this academy, which will offer industry certifications that enhance earning potential and adequately prepare them for college or trade school - Today's Learners, Tomorrow's Leaders!
🎄🛍️ Looking to tackle your holiday shopping? 🛍️🎄 Join us for a Drop & Shop at our upcoming Winter Cheer Clinic for K-8th grade athletes! Hosted by PHS Cheer at the High School Gymnasium, this clinic provides participants the opportunity to learn a festive routine while enhancing their skills in stunting, tumbling, jumps, and crafts! Register now for the clinic on Saturday, December 5, from 9:00-11:00 AM. After the clinic, the athletes will present a showcase for family and friends at 11:00 AM.

Yesterday, students in the Middle School 8th grade Spanish classes participated in a variety of special activities to honor Día de los Muertos. They created tissue paper flowers, designed a digital ofrenda (altar) to honor a loved one, and colored marshmallow "sugar" skulls.
Additionally, they sampled Mexican candies, tried Pan de Muerto (Bread of the Dead), and collaborated on a Calavera (skull) poster. Each student contributed by coloring a different piece, which were then assembled together to create a beautiful collective artwork. It was a wonderful celebration, providing these Trojans with an excellent opportunity to explore and learn about a different culture.
🌊 WINTER TAC REGISTRATION 🌊 We are excited to share that registration is open for our upcoming Winter Trojan Aquatic Club (TAC) program. TAC is a competitive swim team for PCS youth ages 6-18. The TAC program has three age groups that will run from December 1-February 22 on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday evenings from 5:30-6:30 PM.

🏀 Conditioning Sessions: October 19 and October 21 from 3:00-4:00 PM at the Middle School Gym
🏀 Annual Basketball Kickoff: October 24 from 1:00-2:30 PM at the Field House, will include a parent game

That’s a wrap on Plainwell’s FIRST Girls Flag Football season! 🏈 Yesterday they finished their inaugural season at home at Streidl Field!

💙📣 PLAINWELL BOYS AND GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY REGIONAL PERFORMANCE 📣💙
The Plainwell Middle School Cross Country teams turned in strong performances at the regional meet, competing against a large field of talented teams from larger schools!
The boys finished 7th overall as a team, led by an outstanding performance from Ben Stroup, who captured 1st place overall in 10:53.4, earning both conference and regional champion honors! CJ Stroup finished an impressive 6th, and Brock Hansen placed 17th. All three boys earned regional medals! Also representing the boys were Elijah Lawrence, Abbott Smith, Easton Weldon, Kai Ruimveld, Nick Schmittling, Daniel Case, and Mav Mull.
The girls finished 12th overall as a team, led by Brinleigh Hafer, who ran 13:32.3. Adeline Koziatek followed closely, with Ava Butzirus, Kenzie Mull, and Jayla Kidder rounding out the top five scorers. Also representing the girls were Lexie Dunn, Briana Ryan, Ryleigh Kuipers, Livy Potter, and Quinn Potter.
Congratulations to all our Plainwell runners for their hard work, determination, and competitive spirit throughout the season.
They wrapped up their season yesterday by having their final run together to Plainwell Ice Cream!

📣 Homecoming Parade! 📣 Join us today (10/9) to support PHS and cheer on the Trojans at their 2026 Homecoming Parade. Parade leaves PHS at 1:20 PM - students, staff, PCS families, and the community are welcome to join us along the parade route to celebrate Homecoming Spirit Week and to cheer on the Trojans prior to their football game against Stugis at 7 PM. 💙💙 GO TROJANS! 💙💙
This week, the 7th-grade band set off on their annual Team Building Trip to TreeRunner Adventure Park in Grand Rapids!
During their adventure, students faced their fears of heights and most importantly, cheered each other on when things got tough! It was an amazing day of Trojans supporting one another, having fun, and making core memories!
Plainwell Middle School's Creative Writing and Art Club classes had the wonderful chance to attend ArtPrize this week. It was an exciting field trip, giving students the opportunity to spend the day discovering the unique and beautiful artwork displayed in downtown Grand Rapids. 🎨
