The 7th graders recently enjoyed a “staycation” field trip. They spent their morning at the Field House enjoying a variety of activities, including: bingo, swimming, dodgeball, reading, volleyball, basketball, karaoke and KONA Ice. In the afternoon, they relaxed with a movie at the Performing Arts Center. It was a great way for these 7th graders to bond outside the classroom.

Attention Middle School Families! Starting Monday, April 27, the Middle School will be participating in a Penny War. As a building, they will be raising money for Christain Neighbors, who have helped those affected by the recent tornados. If you would like to participate, please send your student to school with extra change. Let the Penny Wars begin!

On Saturday, Plainwell Middle School Band had 25 events attend and perform at MSBOA Middle School Solo and Ensemble Festival at Gull Lake Middle School. At the Festival, every student earned a medal including:

This has been a historic year for Plainwell Middle School Bridge Building Students, with seven teams competing in the State Competition and one participating in the National Competition this month! Gaining acceptance into both state and national events involves a demanding process, requiring students to submit extensive research proposals, deliver ten minute presentations in front of professional engineers, and build a quality 16 inch balsa wood truss bridge.
STATE COMPETITION
For the state competition, 20-25 page research proposals from hundreds of schools across Michigan are evaluated, making it phenomenal for Plainwell to have seven proposals accepted. Seven teams, comprising of 21 students, qualified to compete in the State of Michigan Design and Build Bridge Challenge in Grand Rapids on April 14. The following teams were accepted:

NATIONAL COMPETITION
One team was accepted into the National Competition in Savannah, Georgia on April 13. For this competition, over 70 proposals were submitted representing 20 states, and the committee accepted what they believe to be the top six proposals. This is the second consecutive year Plainwell Middle School had a team accepted to the National Competition, which in itself is a remarkable achievement. The following team represented PCS at the National Competition where they had a remarkable 4th place finish.

Join us this summer for our 2026 Summer Kickball program for 9-12 year old students. Program will run from May 27-July 1. Each game will be a double-header, for a total of 6-8 games during the season. Weekly games will alternate between Otsego & Plainwell, days and times TBD. Cost is $35 per athlete and includes a t-shirt.

Register today to join us at PCS on Saturday, May 2 for a Boater Safety program through Allegan County! The class will be held at Plainwell Middle School from 9:00 AM-3:00 PM. All registrations must be submitted through the DNR website at https://michigan.storefront.kalkomey.com/em/programs/9. There is no cost and while there is no minimum age, anyone under 10 must have a parent or guardian with them.
Join us in supporting the Plainwell Robotics Club at their Dine-to-Donate fundraiser on Monday, April 13. Be sure to mark your calendars for dinner on the day we return from Spring Break at Plainwell Pizza Hut, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. A portion of all sales will support our fantastic Robotics program.

Congratulations to the Middle School Robotics team called the "Blue Screen of Death" who presented the school with their State Trophies for their DESIGN AWARD and INNOVATIVE AWARD. Members of the state team are: Mason Potts, Liam Gault, Max McMeekan, Carter Palme and Leland Phinney. PLAINWELL PRIDE!

Registration is open for an upcoming 5th-8th Grade Springboard Diving Clinic for novice divers. Learn to dive, flip and jump while having fun! Participants must be able to swim in 12 feet of water and one length of the pool. The clinic is coached by Aidan Ranger and will be held on Monday evenings in May from 6:00-7:00 PM. Cost is $40 per athlete.

Last week, Plainwell Middle School held their 2026 Inclusion Week. Throughout the week, the Unified Champions Club hosted special activities and spirit days to celebrate the week, which included: "Kindness Connects Us", "Keeping Mindfulness in Mind", "Blue & White - United & Bright" and "We're All on the Same Team". To end the week, they hosted an exciting basketball game featuring the Unified Champions team vs. Teachers. The event was fantastic, with the Field House stands filled with Trojan spirit as everyone cheered for the teams. It was a wonderful week to celebrate the theme, “Our Differences Make Us Shine,” at Plainwell Middle School!

The Middle school Honors Choir attended the MSVMA District 10 Choral Festival in Hastings, MI today. The group performed two pieces and completed sight reading to receive a I - Excellent Performance! This score qualifies them for the State Festival in May. Way to go Honors Choir - PLAINWELL PRIDE!

The Middle School Trojans explored career opportunities! Last week, students at Plainwell Middle School had the chance to hear from local leaders during two career days. Various community members engaged with classes throughout the middle school, sharing valuable insights about their professions. This enriching experience proved to be especially beneficial for the 6th to 8th graders as they start to explore their future career paths.
