The Plainwell Middle School Penny War concluded this week, marking a collaborative effort between the National Junior Honor Society and the PBIS teams. NJHS volunteers energized the school with announcements, sorted coins and tallied the funds raised. The results are in and the school successfully collected over 10,000 pennies! Here are the final results per grade level: 🥉 Third Place: 8th Grade with -9,223 points 🥈 Second Place: 6th Grade with -5,726 points 🥇 Champion: 7th Grade with a total of 7,548 points! A heartfelt thank you to all the students who contributed to the Penny War. Thanks to your generosity, Plainwell Middle School raised $561.30 for Christian Neighbors! Excellent job, Trojans!

‼️ Attention Middle and High School athletes and marching band students! ‼️ Plainwell and Otsego High Schools are joining forces to offer FREE physicals for the 2026/27 school year to PMS/PHS/OMS/OHS athletes and marching band students on Wednesday, June 3 at the Plainwell Field House. Doors open at 5:00 PM - physicals begin at 5:30 PM. You must be in line by 7:00 PM in order to receive a physical. 📋 Forms are available at plainwellschools.org/page/high-school-athletics and in the athletic office (please bring your completed and signed form with you).

This morning, the Middle School Honors Choir performed at the MSVMA West State Choral Festival in Grand Rapids where they received a high Division I rating! All students received a blue medal signifying their accomplishment and Division I rating. They performed beautifully and truly represented Plainwell Choirs with confidence and enthusiasm - TROJAN PRIDE!!

The Plainwell Middle School National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) induction ceremony took place on April 23 at the Performing Arts Center. During the event, 47 seventh and eighth-grade students were welcomed as new NJHS members. By joining, they pledged to uphold the NJHS values of scholarship, leadership, service, character and citizenship. This commitment marks the beginning of their dedication and selfless leadership, as they strive to support the community in every possible way. Plainwell Middle School organized a reality fair for their eighth grade students, sponsored by Arbor Financial. The goal of this event was to provide students with practical experience in managing finances. Each student was assigned a career, salary and family scenario, requiring them to make financial decisions such as purchasing cars, securing a mortgage and handling various life expenses. A very special thank you to Arbor Financial Credit Union for hosting this special event for our 8th grade students!

The 7th graders recently enjoyed a “staycation” field trip. They spent their morning at the Field House enjoying a variety of activities, including: bingo, swimming, dodgeball, reading, volleyball, basketball, karaoke and KONA Ice. In the afternoon, they relaxed with a movie at the Performing Arts Center. It was a great way for these 7th graders to bond outside the classroom.

Attention Middle School Families! Starting Monday, April 27, the Middle School will be participating in a Penny War. As a building, they will be raising money for Christain Neighbors, who have helped those affected by the recent tornados. If you would like to participate, please send your student to school with extra change. Let the Penny Wars begin!

On Saturday, Plainwell Middle School Band had 25 events attend and perform at MSBOA Middle School Solo and Ensemble Festival at Gull Lake Middle School. At the Festival, every student earned a medal including:  🥇 19 Division 1 Ratings 🥈 6 Division 2 Ratings  We are incredibly proud of the hard work and dedication from these Trojans - PLAINWELL PRIDE! 

This has been a historic year for Plainwell Middle School Bridge Building Students, with seven teams competing in the State Competition and one participating in the National Competition this month! Gaining acceptance into both state and national events involves a demanding process, requiring students to submit extensive research proposals, deliver ten minute presentations in front of professional engineers, and build a quality 16 inch balsa wood truss bridge. STATE COMPETITION For the state competition, 20-25 page research proposals from hundreds of schools across Michigan are evaluated, making it phenomenal for Plainwell to have seven proposals accepted. Seven teams, comprising of 21 students, qualified to compete in the State of Michigan Design and Build Bridge Challenge in Grand Rapids on April 14. The following teams were accepted: ➡️ INVINCIBridge: Tripp Wheeler, Blake Kemp, Ryan Halik ➡️ MMB: Conner Campbell, Gavin Drewyor, Jayce Wrobleski ➡️ TMW: Hunter Sopjes, Dylan Larsen, Emmett Haire ➡️ Terrific Trojans: Leah DeHaan, Vera Wilkinson, Alexis Hansen ➡️ Trojan Truss Bridge Builder: Maximus Steimel, Oliver Longcore, Egan Schippers ➡️ SSURT: Finley Lyster, Ben Stroup, Nick Schmittling ➡️ JRC: Joshua Preuss, Remington Randall, Carter Torres NATIONAL COMPETITION One team was accepted into the National Competition in Savannah, Georgia on April 13. For this competition, over 70 proposals were submitted representing 20 states, and the committee accepted what they believe to be the top six proposals. This is the second consecutive year Plainwell Middle School had a team accepted to the National Competition, which in itself is a remarkable achievement. The following team represented PCS at the National Competition where they had a remarkable 4th place finish. 🏆 Team JRC: Joshua Preuss, Carter Torres, and Remington Randal Congratulations to all of these Trojan students on their outstanding achievements - PLAINWELL PRIDE!

Join us this summer for our 2026 Summer Kickball program for 9-12 year old students. Program will run from May 27-July 1. Each game will be a double-header, for a total of 6-8 games during the season. Weekly games will alternate between Otsego & Plainwell, days and times TBD.
