Students in Mrs. Harnden’s French class at Plainwell Middle School had the opportunity to explore the French celebration of Three Kings’ Day by sampling an authentic galette des rois (King’s cake), complete with a fève. Traditionally, a fève is a bean baked inside the cake, but Madame brought back ceramic figurines from France to include in the cakes.
In keeping with tradition, the youngest member of the class drew names to determine who would be next to receive a piece of cake. The fortunate student who found the fève was crowned King or Queen for the day. In first hour, the queen was Ava and in second hour, it was Lucy.
It was a delicious and enjoyable learning experience for everyone - Bon Appétit!

It was an incredible evening at the 2025 Shop with a Hero event held at Meijer in Plainwell. For the 13th consecutive year, we had the opportunity to provide Meijer gift cards to over 100 students during our Shop with a Hero event. This occasion was truly special for the PCS students and the local heroes who assisted them in their holiday shopping.
THANKS & APPRECIATION: We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our anonymous donor, whose generosity creates this wonderful opportunity for our students each year, impacting countless lives. We also appreciate the local heroes, volunteers and the fantastic gift wrappers for contributing to such a memorable experience for our Middle School students. Additionally, we extend our appreciation to Plainwell Meijer, who generously donates wrapping supplies and snacks for the attendees and gift wrappers throughout the evening.
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who makes this night extraordinarily special each year!

Who doesn't love a great holiday tradition?! It was great fun at Gilkey, Cooper and Starr Elementary Schools as some of the Middle and High School choir members performed for the students at their annual holiday caroling tour throughout the district. This annual caroling event includes a number of holiday classic songs, as well as a few new favorites. It is always a favorite for all the students and staff involved, the smiles were priceless!

To celebrate the end of the first trimester, Middle School students who received two or fewer behavior referrals and passed all their classes were given the opportunity to participate in a fun activity for the last 45 minutes of their school day! During this time, students enjoyed a variety of activities, including: playing games in the gym, singing karaoke and dancing with Just Dance, creating artwork, decorating cookies, playing board/card games, watching movies, gaming on Chromebooks or they spent time outdoors beautifying the school. It was a wonderful way to celebrate our Middle School Trojans!
