Saturday showcased an incredible effort from the Plainwell Middle School Swim and Dive team! The team poured their passion and heart into every race, which was evident by the results. Here are some highlights from the competition: 👏🏼 The Boys team secured 2nd place out of 12 teams, finishing just behind Kalamazoo United, with numerous impressive swims. Special recognition goes to Trevor Todd, Blake Kemp, Rowan Mejur, Kai Rumiveld and Sean Hoffman, who went above and beyond to climb the ranks, earning valuable points for the team – with several moving up over 5 positions to land in the top 16. 👏🏼 The Divers did amazing with Makalya Oele finishing 9th, Abigail Hansen 10th, Quinn Steward 11th and Ava Butzirus in 15th place for the Trojans. 👏🏼 The Girls team finished 2nd out of 12 teams in a thrilling contest against Harper Creek, with only a 9-point difference (365-374)! They delivered outstanding swims and numerous personal bests. Their coach (Tyler McClenny) challenged many girls who were just outside the top 16 to improve their standings, and they rose to the occasion. The 400 Free B relay team of Abigail Hansen, Peyton Damick, Rylee Ranger and Natalia Hoffman made an impressive leap from 17th to 7th place. 👏🏼 Anna Eldred qualified for MISCA in both the 50 Freestyle and 100 Freestyle, while Alivia Bierema also qualified in the 100 Backstroke. Congratulations to the MS Swim team – TROJAN PRIDE!

The Plainwell Robotics Club sent six teams to the Jenison Blended VEX Robotics Tournament on Saturday, January 11. The event was “blended” in that 43 middle and high school teams from across Michigan participated and worked with, and against, each other. It was a special opportunity for younger students to experience first hand how their older colleagues were designing and building their robots. It was a fun day for our teams. While they didn’t bring home any awards, they won half our matches throughout the day and had four teams qualify for the final elimination rounds. Highlights from the event include: - High School team Brotherhood of Steel (pictured - Hunter and Kevin) finished 14th after the qualifying matches and captained the 9th place alliance in the finals. The team is coached by Charles Crouch and Jeremy Sanderson, respectively. - High School team Brotherhood of Steel (Hunter and Kevin) finished 14th after the qualifying matches and captained the 9th place alliance in the finals. For students that have parent pick-up, the building will remain open until students are picked-up. Please note, the PHS PM Tech Center students will not report this afternoon. In addition, all evening activities scheduled for today will be canceled.
