
The Middle School Girls Basketball teams are putting in tremendous effort this season! On Monday, the 6th, 7th and 8th grade teams faced off against Paw Paw, where they played with great determination and teamwork. Here are some highlights from the games:
8th grade: The 8th grade team delivered a dominant performance, controlling the game from start to finish and securing a 31-23 victory. Their solid defense and fast-paced offense were key to the win, as they played with confidence and showed great teamwork.
7th grade: The 7th grade team put up an intense fight, showcasing impressive skills and teamwork, but ultimately came up just short, losing 37-32. They played with heart and determination, and their effort was commendable throughout the game.
6th grade: The 6th grade team played Paw Paw this past Monday with great determination and teamwork throughout the game. Despite their best efforts, they fell short with a final score of 8-14. Their hard work and resilience were evident, and they showed plenty of promise for future games.


Reminder - tickets are on sale for the 2025 Mother and Son Hockey Night until March 10! Once the ticket link closes on March 10 at 11:59 PM, group tickets will no longer be available for the event.
Join us as the Kalamazoo Wings take on the Toledo Walleye in the Annual Green Ice Game on Saturday, March 15 at 7:00 PM. Mothers and sons will enjoy the game, a $5 concession voucher, a free knit hat, a green foam LED stick and a voucher for a free game of bowling at Airway Fun Center! Tickets are available for $17/adults, $14/kids (12 and under). PLEASE NOTE: Children's tickets ($14) will show up once you are on the screen to select your seat. Transportation is not available and parking is $5 per car at the event.

Middle School Athlete of the Week - Jackson Ford! Congratulations to Jackson, he was nominated by Coach Rizzo who stated: “After months of hard work and determination, Jackson has truly transformed. His dedication to improving his technique and stamina paid off in a big way as he decisively pinned his opponent, showcasing his newfound strength and skill. Not only has this wrestler improved tremendously, but he’s also become an invaluable teammate. Always putting the team first, he gives his best in every practice and match, never expecting anything in return.” Way to go, Jackson!


We are excited to share two upcoming Summer Volleyball Camps!
- PLAINWELL VOLLEYBALL CAMP: PHS students, as well as 1st-6th graders are invited to join us for a Summer Volleyball Camp. Camp will be held from June 9-12 at the Plainwell Field House with three times available: High School from 8:00-10:00 AM, 1st-3rd grade from 10:30-11:30 AM and 4th-6th grade from 12:00-1:30 PM. - 7TH & 8TH GRADE SKILLS CAMP: 7th & 8th grade students are invited to join us for a Summer Volleyball Skills Camp. Camp will be held every Tuesday from July 8-August 5 from 6:00-7:30 PM at the Plainwell Field House. Cost is $50 per athlete. Throughout the year, buildings in the district have partnered with NexTrex to recycle plastic. For each 1,000 lbs. that are collected, buildings earn a new NexTrex bench and we are excited to share that Plainwell Middle School has earned a new bench! THANK YOU to our community for your support in achieving this goal!
Donations will still be accepted! Please bring plastic grocery bags that are clean, dry and free of food residue to bins at the front vestibule of the High School, Middle School, Plainwell Corners, PCS Administration Building, Renaissance High School, Cooper, Gilkey & Starr to help support the recycling challenge.


The Unified Champions team from Plainwell Middle School had their first basketball game yesterday. Despite only having four practices, Plainwell was able to play tough against their crosstown rival Otsego. The game was close, ending with a final score of 24-21! 🏀


Congratulations to Peyton, Lennox and Annabell as they are Plainwell Middle Schools' "Book and a Bonus" winners for January. "Book and a Bonus" is a monthly reading incentive program for MS students that is supported by Ransom District Library.

Middle School Athlete of the Week - Nya Hoffman! Nya has been a great leader on and off the basketball court. She comes to practice everyday and is willing to learn as well as help her teammates improve. Nya excels on the court, always has a positive attitude, and never gives up. Against Paw Paw last week, Nya lead the team to a win with 15 points. She played exceptionally well and her defense was incredible. Way to go, Nya!

The 2025 Daughter Dance was SO MUCH FUN!! Thank you to everyone who joined us for the annual Daughter Dance last Saturday. Over 400 attendees enjoyed a night at Plainwell Middle School filled with dancing, treats, a selfie station and a keepsake flower. A special thanks to our fantastic DJ, Terry Holroyd, for creating a fun atmosphere with great music, as well as Kathy Elliott and the Middle School NJHS for their volunteer efforts. We also appreciate Becky Howrigon and her team for capturing formal photos. It was a wonderful and special evening for all at the 2025 Daughter Dance!


Due to winter weather and difficult travel conditions, Plainwell Community Schools will be closed tomorrow (Thursday, February 13). This closure includes the SAFE and ECEC programs. We wish our students, staff and families a safe snow day!


Middle School Athlete of the Week - Kaelyn Seibert! Kaelyn has shown a great deal of leadership in and outside of the pool. She has demonstrated what it means to take charge under high pressure situations. In practice she has been one who has taken charge of leading by example and pushing others to grow as individuals through the hard workouts. Kaelyn was a vital asset to her relay teams and a loud supporter of her teammates on the sidelines. Kaelyn exemplifies what it means to be a Student Athlete. Way to go, Kaelyn!

Registration is open for our upcoming Spring Tae Kwon Do program. Join us to improve coordination, gain strength and increase your flexibility while learning self-defense techniques, taught by Mr. Mitch. Tae Kwon Do is open to participants 7 and up. This twelve-week program will run from March 3-June 2 from 5:30-7:00 PM. Practices will be held at the Middle School Cafeteria (720 Brigham St, Plainwell). Plainwell Middle School students recently came together to enjoy an all-school party. This after-school gathering offered a range of activities, such as crafts, open gym, face painting and games. A special thank you goes to the Middle School Parent Club and the parent volunteers for organizing and hosting this wonderful event for our 6-8th grade students – it was a tremendous success!
