Plainwell Middle School ECO Club has been hard at work maintaining the building courtyards. This past week, they moved 15 cubic yards of mulch into the space. A big thanks goes to Tim Bowman from Total Property Management for donating woodchips. Also thank you to all the Middle School staff and students who took on this monumental project.

This week, Plainwell Middle School held their 2025 Inclusion Week. Throughout this week, the Unified Champions Club hosted special activities, opportunities and spirit days to celebrate. They kicked off the week with an exciting basketball game featuring the Unified Champions team vs. Teachers. The event was fantastic, with the stands filled with Trojan spirit as everyone cheered for the teams. It was a great week at PMS!

Cooper's Young Fives celebrated Reading Month with a visit to Ransom Library. Miss Erin read some stories, sang songs and played a game with the students. They also were able to visit the 3-D printing lab to see how 3-D printing works! They ended their field trip with some time in the Children's library and with a special trinket from the 3-D printing lab.

As a reminder, our Spring Break is from April 3-11. We wish our students, staff and families a wonderful break! We look forward to welcoming the PCS students back to school on Monday, April 14. Have a great Spring Break and GO TROJANS!

Phones and internet at PCS are currently down district wide. We apologize for the inconvenience, all communications will be delayed until the internet and phones have been restored!

The Cooper 5th grade students in Miss Wright’s class had a special way of celebrating reading month by making a book chain. Each link or chain represents a book or chapter that students read in the month of March. This was a great way to encourage reading as it provided a visual representation of how reading can grow their minds. The class had over 200 links as a class! Keep reading, Koalas! 🐨📚

To end reading month, the 5th graders at Cooper Elementary had a special visitor. Miss Greater Kalamazoo, Lauren Mroczek, stopped by to read to the classes and share about her experience as Miss Greater Kalamazoo. Special thanks to Lauren for stopping by to read to the Cooper Koalas! 📚

Rock Starr Readers! Mrs. VanGoeye 2nd grade class read with Mrs. Amaezechi’s 4th grade class during their annual “read-in” pajama day. This is always a fun time for students at Starr Elementary!

New bench = ✔️! Throughout the year, buildings in the district have partnered with NexTrex to recycle plastic. For each 1,000 lbs. that are collected, buildings earn a new NexTrex bench and we are excited to share that we have earned our second new bench, which will be delivered to Gilkey Elementary! THANK YOU to our community for your support in achieving this goal!
Donations will still be accepted, in hopes that we can earn enough for one more bench this year! Please bring plastic grocery bags that are clean, dry and free of food residue to bins at the front vestibule of the High School, Middle School, Plainwell Corners, PCS Administration Building, Renaissance High School, Cooper, Gilkey & Starr to help support the recycling challenge. Thank you Trojan Community for your ongoing support of this recycling challenge!

Recently, Gilkey Elementary held their March Student and Staff of the Month ceremony. Each month, Gilkey teachers select students and staff who they felt did an outstanding job throughout the month and the recipients are celebrated at a special award ceremony with their families. In March, students and staff were selected for their positivity. Way to go, Geckos!

All four Middle School Choirs received Division I ratings at the MSVMA District Choral Festival and qualified for State Choral Festival! The 8th Grade and Honors Choir will be going on to perform at Hope College in the State Festival in early May. Go Trojans!

Due to a power outage, Gilkey Elementary and the Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC) buildings are closed today (Monday, March 31). All other buildings will be open as normally scheduled.
