PHS Wrestling had an exciting day of competition! The Girls team emerged as the Grand Haven Tournament CHAMPS! Meanwhile, the boys team competed in Allendale, securing an impressive 2nd place finish. Special congratulations goes out to Adin Young who won in overtime in the tournament and earned a milestone in wrestling…150 wins! Great job to all the PHS Wrestlers on an outstanding day of competition – TROJAN PRIDE!
Pool schedule changes! We are excited to relocate to our new pool facility and eagerly anticipate everyone experiencing the new Field House soon. During our transition to the new pool, the facility will be closed on the following dates to ensure our staff receives proper training:
- Friday, January 3: No Open Swim and No TAC practice
- Saturday, January 4: No Aqua Aerobics
- Monday, January 6-Friday, January 10: No Noon Lap Swim

👏🏼 First athletic signing of 2025! 👏🏼Congratulations to PHS Senior, Dominic Annerino, on signing his letter of intent to play baseball at Spring Arbor University! We are incredibly proud of Dominic’s athletic achievements while at PHS and wish him all the best next year at SAU. From all of us at PCS, congratulations and best wishes to Dominic!
We are making a splash into 2025! As a team, PHS Swim & Dive made their first jump into the new Field House pool. Practices are underway in the new facility and soon we will be sharing details on the Grand Opening Ceremony. We aim to host the first athletic event by mid-January.

Team building fun! Last week, the PHS Ski team took a break from their regular practice to head to Hudsonville for an exciting kickball game while the hill was closed. This was a fantastic chance for team building through some fun competition.

This weekend, the PHS Girls Wrestling team hosted 139 female wrestlers in a tournament dedicated to a beloved friend, coach and PCS educator, Ryan Meert, who significantly influenced our wrestling program and community. Throughout the tournament, Plainwell excelled, achieving numerous top finishes and ultimately taking home 1st place as a team! It was truly an incredible, memorable and special event!
💙📣 Cheer Fest 2024 📣💙 PCS Cheer had strong performances from all their teams at the Cheer Fest this past weekend. The Plainwell Fourth and Fifth grade Exhibition team, as well as the Middle School teams had strong performances during the competition. The Plainwell JV and Varsity teams both took first place! Fantastic job Trojan Cheer!
As a reminder, our Winter Holiday Break is from December 23-January 3. We wish the Trojan community a happy holiday break. We look forward to welcoming our students back to school on Monday, January 6. From all of us at PCS - Happy Holidays!
We wrapped up our holiday performances at the Plainwell Performing Arts Center at the 2024 PHS Winter Musicale Concert. The evening was filled with outstanding performances by the PHS Choir and Band departments. It was a wonderfully festive and beautiful evening - special thanks to the students, Mr. Hepinstall, Mr. Rushford and Ms. Ernst for another phenomenal evening at the PAC!

The PHS students and staff were greeted by special carolers this morning. Several choir students performed to start the final day of school before winter holiday break. 🎄
The PHS Multicultural Club had an amazing opportunity to spread holiday cheer at the Life Care Center’s Christmas party before the holidays! Students played games, assisted in serving food, helped residents open their gifts and shared joy with everyone there. It was a heartwarming experience that reminded us all of the true spirit of the season.

Recently, students from PHS’ AP French class embarked on a journey to Quebec to prepare for their AP Exam in May. The trip included visits to Ottawa, Quebec City and Montreal. In Ottawa, they toured the House of Commons and gained insight into the Canadian Government. In Quebec City, founded in 1608, students explored both the lower and upper towns, admired the Chateau Frontenac, shopped at the German Christmas market and participated in a ghost tour. Just outside Quebec, they marveled at Montmorency Falls, the tallest waterfall in North America. They enjoyed a slice of homemade bread with maple butter at Chez Marie, a bakery dating back to 1652. Next, they visited the Saint Anne de Beaupre Cathedral before heading to Montreal, where they explored the city and attended a stunning sound and light show at the Notre Dame Cathedral. It was an amazing trip, including six nights and 1,907 miles, and phenomenal experience for the Trojans!
👏🏼 FIRST-EVER TOURNAMENT FIRST PLACE! 👏🏼 This weekend, the Girls Wrestling team participated in the Chippewa Hills Tournament where they proudly earned their very first tournament first place finish! The results from Trojan included:
- 1st place: Madison Nieuwenhuis, Avery Lynch, Ana Sophia Vega and Kora Dranikowska
- 2nd place: Aurora Wanamaker
- 3rd place: Grayce Swanson
- 4th place: Makayla Roth

Earlier this week, the Girls Basketball program wrapped up their annual Holiday Giveback. As a program, they raised $3,551 for the Giveback, which will provide dinner and gifts under the tree for local families in our community. Thank you to all the donated to this special fundraiser - GO TROJANS!
