Summer School is underway where students are completing credit recovery and advancement classes at PHS. Special congratulations go out to incoming freshman, Ryan, who is the first to complete an advancement class (health) for high school! Way to go, Ryan!
We are excited to introduce our upcoming Love and Logic Parenting Classes! These classes are available to any PCS family (present or future) at the Plainwell Performing Arts Center. Class will run for six weeks on Thursday evenings (September 14, 21, 28 and October 5, 12, 19). Childcare will be provided. Cost is $10 (per workbook). PHS School Counselor, Emily Johnson, was recently a presenter at San Diego State University for a Counselor Fellowship program through MCAN. Way to go, Mrs. Johnson.
One of the PHS LINKS II students, Hailey, completed a special piece of art for her final project. The piece, which includes several student handprints in the backdrop, is a beautiful addition to PHS. According to the artist, she is hopeful that "When people look at the mural, I want them to feel welcomed into the school and feel a sense of belonging. Feeling included is a big thing in high school. I want people to feel like they belong in our school especially in today's world." Special thanks to Hailey for this beautiful piece and for the reminder of the importance of including others. Plainwell Pride!

Schools out, but the Bond construction continues at the new Pool and Gymnasium. Watching the progress has been so exciting! We are looking forward to many great competitions and community programs at the new facility, so many great things are ahead at PCS!

The PHS Varsity Soccer team’s amazing season ended tonight with a 1-2 loss to East Grand Rapids HS in the State Semifinals. We are incredibly proud of their hard work and dedication this season. At least 30 students and several staff from Plainwell Community Schools volunteered at Island City Festival this weekend. Students wore costumes and greeted festival goers, picked up trash, helped when needed and worked the parking lot to earn money for various non-profits and school groups. They had a lot of fun! Thanks to the hard workers behind Island City Festival for the opportunity!
