Two high school wrestlers set out for their first ever all girls tournament yesterday. With dominating performances, 100lb Madison Nieuwenhius became the Champ with pinning her way to the finals and tech fall in the finals 23-8 to make a statement for her quest of being Plainwell’s first girl state champion. 110lb Avery Lynch went 3-1 for third place with 6-0, 2-0 and 3-2 wins. Avery also working towards improving to be on the podium! Way to go, Trojans!

It’s official, Winter Break is here! As a reminder, our Winter Holiday Break is from Thursday, December 22-Friday, January 6. We wish our students and families a wonderful and happy holiday break. We look forward to welcoming our students back to school on Monday, January 9.

Another wall mural masterpiece by PHS 10th grader Sarah Lagenour has been completed at Plainwell Middle School. This mural is an original of her 2020/21 yearbook cover. Sarah’s art skills are absolutely incredible and we are so grateful that she shared her talents for all to enjoy for years to come at PMS. Next up, she will be painting another mural in the 6th grade hallway after break. Trojan Pride!


We wrapped up our holiday performances at the Plainwell Performing Arts Center last night at the 2022 PHS Spectrum Concert. The evening was filled with outstanding performances by the PHS Choir and Band departments. It was a wonderfully festive evening - a special thank you to our students and Directors (Ms. Beauchamp, Mr. Hepinstall and Mr. Rushford) for a phenomenal evening at the PAC!

We are excited to introduce PYP to Plainwell High School! Last week, we welcomed PYP, a 2 year old female lab, to PHS as the new therapy dog. Mr. Glass (pictured) is her handler and home owner. Beginning in January, upon our return from winter holiday break, PHS students will be able to sign-up to see PYP. She will have a daily schedule that includes spending time in the library. We are so excited to welcome PYP to the Trojan community!


Ms. Trahan's French II class has been learning about traditional dishes and investigating how food plays an integral part in family, traditions and celebrations in French speaking cultures. Their current unit focuses on Belgian and Congolese cultures. Students brought Belgian Waffles, Belgian Truffles, Macarons, Famous Amos Cookies and Speculoos (homemade spiced cookies). As well as some Congolese foods including: Rice Pie, Fruit Salad, Chocolate Tartes & Coconut Pie.


It was a fun morning at Gilkey, Cooper and Starr Elementary Schools as the Middle and High School Choirs performed for the students. The performance included a number of classic holiday songs, as well as a special appearance from "Olaf". It was a fun morning for all the students involved, the smiles were priceless!


The Plainwell High School Red Cross Club wrapped up their winter clothing drive. Thanks to the generosity of our Trojans, they collected over 2,500 items that will be donated to the Martin Resource Center. Plainwell Pride!


Congratulations to the PHS Wrestling team on their 2nd place finish out of 15 schools at the Allegan Southwest Classic! The team had 11 out of 14 Trojans in the finals: champions were Austin Gyorkos and Trammel Robinson and 2nd place finishers were Madison Nieuwenhius, Tyler Preuss and Adin Young! Way to go Trojans, Plainwell Pride!


Congratulations to the Varsity Girls Basketball team on their win (57-18) tonight over Sturgis High School! Trojan Pride!


The 2022 Plainwell High School Spectrum Concert is sold out! For those that did not purchase tickets, the concert will be available via live stream on the Plainwell Performing Arts Center Facebook page (on 12/20 at 7 PM). We look forward to this amazing holiday concert from the PHS Band and Choir programs!


Congratulations to PHS Senior, Ashley McKenney, on signing her letter of intent to play softball at Lake Michigan College! We are incredibly proud of Ashley’s athletic achievements while at PHS and wish her all the best next year at LMC. From all of us at PCS, congratulations and best wishes to Ashley! Trojan pride!


Congratulations to the Plainwell High School JV and Varsity Competitive Cheer teams on their first place finish at the Plainwell Cheer Fest Invitational on Saturday! Way to go Trojans - Plainwell Pride!



The Plainwell Robotics Club had a very busy and very successful tournament schedule over the weekend. Six middle school teams competed in a 38 team event at Grandville High School, five high school teams competed in a 39 team event at Napoleon High School and one elementary school team competed in an 18 team event at Napoleon High School.
The Middle School Trial and Error team was presented with the Design Award and received an invitation to the State Middle School Championship Tournament to be held in Monroe, MI in March. The Design Award is presented to a team that has demonstrated a strong combination of ingenuity and innovation in designing and documenting their robot. Team members are Erica Klein, Mai Nguyen, Liam Preuninger and Lucas Stoll. They are coached by Marie Tsuji.
The High School So Many Problems team received the Amaze Award, which is presented to a team that has built an amazing, high-scoring robot that clearly demonstrates overall quality. This is the second consecutive tournament that this team has earned this award. Team members are Sam Bacon, Owen Ferris and Danielle Klein.
The Elementary Rocket team had a very successful tournament at Napoleon. Ending in 9th place after the qualifying matches is impressive and finishing tied for 3rd place in the finals is even more so!
We are very proud of our robotics students at every level!
