KINDERGARTEN EVENT REMINDER! The special launch event for the Plainwell My Future Fund program is this week and we are excited to see our kindergarten families there! The Family Fun Night will be held on Wednesday (January 14) from 6:00-7:30 PM in the High School Cafeteria. This new initiative is designed to support our youngest learners and their families, and we would love to have you with us to learn more and celebrate its start. 🏆 Plainwell Athletic Hall of Fame 2026 - Shannon Cunningham (Carrier) 🏆 Plainwell Athletics is proud to announce that Shannon Cunningham (Carrier) was selected for the 2026 Plainwell Athletic Hall of Fame! As a standout three-sport captain at Plainwell, Shannon (Carrier) Cunningham transitioned her leadership to a historic soccer career at Grand Valley State University. As a four-time All-GLIAC and three-time NCAA DII All-Region selection, she ranks among the program’s elite with 119 career points and the fourth-most assists in school history. Her legacy of on-field dominance and high character was cemented with her induction into the GVSU Athletic Hall of Fame in 2019. 📅 Induction Ceremony: The 2026 Hall of Fame inductees will be honored on Friday, January 16 in between the Girls and Boys Varsity Basketball Games. Please join us in celebrating these Trojan greats and congratulating them on this well-deserved honor! 💙

Students in Mrs. Harnden’s French class at Plainwell Middle School had the opportunity to explore the French celebration of Three Kings’ Day by sampling an authentic galette des rois (King’s cake), complete with a fève. Traditionally, a fève is a bean baked inside the cake, but Madame brought back ceramic figurines from France to include in the cakes. In keeping with tradition, the youngest member of the class drew names to determine who would be next to receive a piece of cake. The fortunate student who found the fève was crowned King or Queen for the day. In first hour, the queen was Ava and in second hour, it was Lucy. It was a delicious and enjoyable learning experience for everyone - Bon Appétit!

Congratulations to the Boys Swim and Dive team who beat Hastings last night. Shout out to Sam Harper for qualifying for state in the 500 free. Other great swims from the competition from William Justice, Parker Montange, Ryan Miller, Nolan Lindsey, Oliver Berg, Mate Malatinszki, Felipe Del Motto and the rest of the team. Our Divers, Aidan Ranger and Logan Stuifbergen, also had a great competition. GO TROJANS!

We can’t end the month of December without recognizing the Gilkey Elementary Students and Staff members of the Month. Each month, Gilkey selects students and staff members who they felt did an outstanding job throughout the month and the recipients are celebrated at a special award ceremony. Information has been sent home with your student sharing details about this program that is available to all 2025/26 PCS Kindergarten students through the Allegan County Community Foundation (ACCF). Save the Date - Join us on January 14 to discover more about the “My Future Fund” program and how it will benefit the Class of 2038 students. Have questions? Due to weather conditions, the PCS Pool is closed today (Monday, December 29). This closure includes noon lap swim, TAC and Middle School practice.

Last week, the entire district was filled with holiday cheer. At Starr Elementary, students had a week filled with special dress-up days, classroom celebrations, and various holiday games and crafts. To add to the excitement, they received a special visit from “Lucky the Elf” and “The Grinch,” who brought a lot of holiday spirit before the Winter Holiday Break. We 💙 seeing all the joy and smiles the holiday season brings to our students.

Last week, the PHS students and staff were welcomed by a group of special carolers to share some holiday joy. A number of choir students performed to kick-off the last day of school before their winter holiday break. 🎄

We wrapped up our holiday performances at the 2025 PHS Winter Musicale Concert. The evening was filled with outstanding performances by the PHS Choir and Band departments, creating a wonderfully festive and beautiful evening at the Plainwell Performing Arts Center!
