Registration is open for the 2023 Son Day, an event for sons K-6th and their chaperones on Saturday, April 15 from 5-7 PM at the Plainwell Performing Arts Center. Yesterday (3/18), students from Plainwell High School participated in a regional Science Olympiad Tournament at Western Michigan University. More than 750 area middle and high school students participated in the event which was hosted by WMU’s College of Engineering and Applied Sciences. It was a fantastic event and the participating students represented PHS very well. Students in Mrs. Mudget’s Kindergarten class at Starr Elementary had a special treat on St. Patrick’s Day. A leprechaun left Lucky Charms cereal in their classroom and when these Rock Start students added milk, their cereal turned green! What a lucky class and a fun way to celebrate the day! 🍀

It’s amazing to see all the wonderful elementary masterpieces featured at the Ransom Distirct Library. Stop by the library over the next few weeks to see Starr and Gilkey student art featured throughout the building. It’s a beautiful sight!

Congratulations to the Plainwell Middle School 6th, 7th, 8th and Honors Choirs on their outstanding performances at their Choir Festival yesterday. They performed beautifully at the West Ottawa Performance Center.  Plainwell Pride!

Plainwell Middle School educator, Geri Macklin, presented “A Veteran Goes Virtual: Tips and Tricks for Meeting Student and Teacher Needs in a Digital World” at this year’s MACUL conference in Detroit. Way to go, Mrs. Macklin!

Today students in Ms. Francomb’s class at Starr Elementary celebrated Magical Leprechaun Day! They danced with streamers, drew rainbow monsters and designed leprechaun traps using various materials from around the classroom. Despite their best efforts, they didn't catch the mischievous leprechaun, who left their classroom a mess while they were away at their special. It was a fun and exciting day, with lots of fun and laughter!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Students in Mrs. Gonyeau’s first grade class at Starr Elementary had a great time learning and celebrating at the same time while graphing with Lucky Charms! The Rock Starr students LOVED it!

Recently, Chief Callahan from Plainwell Public Safety and PCS’ Resource Officer Mr. Farris, gave a presentation on cell phone and online safety to our 7th/8th graders. They shared great information about online safety and the digital footprint that exists for everyone. In addition, they shared the consequences of sharing/receiving inappropriate pictures and the long term impact it can have for those that engage in exchanging pictures. We appreciate the support from Chief Callahan and Officer Farris in educating our students to ensure they are aware of these issues and consequences.

The PHS JV and Varsity Girls Soccer Scrimmages that were scheduled for tomorrow (Saturday, March 18) have been canceled.

As we approach Friday and the end of another school week, we wanted to share some progress pictures of the new Trojan pool and gymnasium project. During construction this week, they filled the pool tank with dirt. This part of the process both protects the tank and allows for safer processes over the tank in terms of scaffolding for upcoming metal and roofing work. Registration will open on April 10 for the 2023 Summer SAFE Program. Please mark your calendar to register for this awesome summer program at PCS. Students K-5 are invited to join us for some fun this summer to enjoy weekly field trips and engaging activities. Details include: - Open to students who have completed K-5 - All grades at Starr Elementary School - Flexible scheduling - choose only the weeks you need - Weekly field trips including water & swimming activities for all ages - Cost is $160 / week for 4+ days or $130 / week for 3 days Enrollment begins April 10! Students in Mrs. Oostdyk’s math classes at Plainwell Middle School had a Pi (π) Day Celebration. They had special activities and snacks to celebrate the day.

Students in Ms. Hotchkiss’ 3rd grade class at Gilkey Elementary had fun dressing up like their favorite book character today for reading month! We love to see all the fun our classrooms are having while encouraging reading!

New to Plainwell Middle and High School - Plainwell Fishing Club is for students in 6-12 grade! Congratulations to Plainwell Middle School 6th graders Emily Skinner, Makayla Oele, Katherine Jepsen and Kalysta Mori, as well as Kendall Keeler from Cooper and their entire U12 Force team on their 2nd place finish at the MFA March Madness Soccer Tournament this past weekend. Way to go!

Our Elementary Robotics teams did very well this past weekend at the Michigan State Championship. Highlights from the weekend included: Cooper Team “The Rocket” (Nevin Berneis-Emmons, Briana Ryan and Parker Dahlquist) placed 24th in the Qualifying Round, 12th place in the Final Round, 8th in the Skills competition and qualified for the IQ WC. They are coached by Shannon Ryan Cooper Team “TP Titans” (Dylan Larsen, Parker Edds and Emmett Preuninger) placed 14th in the Qualifying Round, 15th place in the Final Round and 39th in the Skills competition. They are coached by Kevin DeKryger. Gilkey Team, “Gearheads” (Jackson Stull and Mason Potts) placed 15th in the Qualifying Round, 11th place in the Final Round and placed 40th in the Skills competition. They are coached by Joe Potts. Great job to the students and coaches on a great weekend of competition! Plainwell Pride!

Congratulations to the Boys Swim and Dive team who had the best ending to their season over the weekend at the D3 State Meet. Highlights from the event include: - Sam Harper finished 3rd in the 200 free and finished 2nd in the 500 free earning him ALL-STATE honors in both individual events. - Jacob Westdorp finished 9th in diving. - Andrew Miller came back second day in the 100 free placing 15th. - The relay team of Lucas Boven, Tyler Keator, Andrew Miller and Sam Harper finished 12th in the 400 free relay. - The boys finished 18th in state overall out of 33 teams. We are so proud of the hard work and dedication from the PHS Swim and Dive team this season - TROJAN PRIDE!
